MICHAEL JACKSON 3D GRAMMY TRIBUTE

We’ve just learned the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards are scheduled to honor the memory of Michael Jackson by showing a never-before-seen 3-D mini-movie for MJ’s “Earth Song” — which was segment from Jackson’s This Is It tour. To enjoy the 3D experience, be sure to visit your local Target store from Sunday through January 31st for free 3-D glasses. In addition, there will be a celebrity MJ tribute performance with Usher, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood. The ceremony will broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, January 31st at 8 PM Eastern on CBS.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND ROCKS THE BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART

New York’s Vampire Weekend debuts at number one on the Billboard album chart as Contra sold over 124-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream, which has sold over 3.2-million copies to date, holds at number two for the second straight week. Meanwhile, last week’s number one album, Ke$ha’s Animal, drops to number three, Lady Gaga’s The Fame falls one spot to number four and Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom slides to number five. Gaga’s The Fame Monster climbs four spots to number six, Mary J. Blige’s Stronger With Each Tear descends two places to number seven, Taylor Swift’s Fearless falls one slot to number eight, the Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel soundtrack drops three places to number nine and the Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. drops two slots to round out the top ten.

JUSTIN BIEBER UPDATE

Justin Bieber’s new single, “Baby” featuring Ludacris, shot up to number two on iTunes after being released on Tuesday. Even though the 15-year-old singer recently released his debut album, My World, which has sold over 792-thousand copies in just nine weeks, he is currently in the studio working on album number two. Yesterday, Bieber tweeted, “Gonna be in the studio and rehearsals all week finishing up My World Part 2 and getting the show together.” Justin Bieber will perform at the Hollywood Paladium in Los Angeles on February 14th.

IT’S A CELEBRATION WITH MADONNA, AKON & DAVID GUETTA

Akon and David Guetta teamed up for a remix of Madonna’s “Celebration,” which will be released to radio on Tuesday. The dance-heavy track originally appeared on Madonna’s third greatest hits album, which was released back in September.

RIHANNA PREPS REMIX ALBUM

DJ Brooklyn Zoo confirmed on his Twitter page that fans should expect a remix album for Rihanna’s latest record, Rated R. The DJ wrote: “Def Jam hired me to remix tracks on the album for a remix album release in February.” The revamped disc will include new versions of Ri Ri’s “Rockstar,” “Rude Boy” and “Wait Your Turn.”

CIARA LANDS ADIDAS ENDORSEMENT DEAL

According to her official fan site, Ciara has landed a very lucrative endorsement deal with Adidas. The singer will reportedly serve as a spokesperson for the company’s new Adidas Originals 2010 global marketing campaign and appear in TV commercials worldwide. She joins soccer superstar David Beckham in promoting the apparel company. In related news, Ci Ci is also working on her fourth studio album, which will receive production from The Dream, Tricky Stewart and Darkchild.

RICK ROSS COLLABS WITH RUBEN

LEONA LEWIS TWEETS ABOUT GOLDEN GLOBES

Leona Lewis was at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood, and the “Bleeding Love” singer wrote on her Twitter account that she had a great time. Lewis also said that she “met Samuel L. GAGA SETS ANOTHER RECORD

Lady Gaga can add another milestone to her already impressive resume. According to Billboard.com, Gaga’s song “Bad Romance” just set the record for having been played the most times in one week on pop radio. The tune was played 10,859-times last week, breaking the record set by Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love,” which held the top spot when her song was played 10,665-times over seven days in 2008.

KYLIE MINOGUE LOVES THE LADIES

Kylie Minogue loves the ladies. The Aussie pop star, who is dating a Spanish male model, told Max Mexico magazine, “I have been attracted to some women. I am a sexual exhibitionist and part of me is a natural flirt. But although I am attracted to women, I have never done anything with them.”

NEW MUSIC FROM TAYLOR SWIFT

AMY WINEHOUSE PLEADS GUILTY

Amy Winehouse has pleaded guilty to assaulting a theater manager in December. According to the Associated Press, a judge ruled that the embattled singer must pay her victim 185 pounds, or the equivalent of about 300 dollars, and also must stay out of trouble for two years. If she doesn’t, the judge said that Winehouse will be “hit hard” and “hit twice.” Her punishment was handed out in a courthouse about 50 miles north of London.

NEW DETAILS ON KELLY ROWLAND’S ALBUM

Kelly Rowland has teamed up with famed producer Jim Jonsin on her upcoming album. According to Rap-Up.com, Jonsin revealed the former Destiny’s Child singer is going for a “pop-house and R&B sound, like a mixture.” Her third solo effort is expected to have “a Donna Summer sound.” It’s not yet known what the name of the disc will be or what label home Rowland will sign to; she recently parted ways with Columbia Records/Music World Entertainment.

ASHANTI WORKS WITH DAVID GUETTA ON LP

According to her Twitter page, Ashanti is “on the grind” as she records new material for her upcoming album. SingersRoom.com has learned the songstress has teamed up with David Guetta on her fourth studio effort. The pair is rumored to sing a duet titled “Take Me To Paradise.” The release date for Ms. Douglas’ LP is still unknown; however she’s tweeted that it will be released this year.

LUDACRIS TALKS BATTLE OF THE SEXES

New details surrounding Ludacris’ upcoming album, Battle of the Sexes, have been released. Luda teamed up with Pharrell Williams to produce on the effort and recently told us what topics he’s covering on the project (See Related Cut #4). While Battle of the Sexes is slated for a March release, the rapper has already revealed the video for his new single “How Low.” Check it out on YouTube.

FRANZ FERDINAND COVERED BY ACTRESS

Franz Ferdinand wrote a song called “The Eyes of Mars” for Dior’s new fashion line. The Franz tune is sung by French actress Marion Cotillard as she is the face of Dior. Fans can hear the new track over at LadyDior.com right now. The song will also be featured in television ads for the new line. Fans most recently saw Marion in the musical film Nine.

MTV’S HOPE FOR HAITI NOW CONCERT LINE-UP

Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Sting, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Taylor Swift will all perform at MTV’s Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief on Friday. The show will also feature a group performance by Keith Urban, Kid Rock, and Sheryl Crow from Los Angeles, while Coldplay, along with a group performance by Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, and Rihanna will beam out live from London. In addition to musical performances, the telethon will feature more than one hundred stars of film, T-V and music supporting the cause. Wyclef Jean will be holding the fort down in New York City, George Clooney will be live in Los Angeles, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper will be reporting from Haiti during the two hour show. MTV’s Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief will take place Friday, January 22nd at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific and will air on MTV, VH1, CMT, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, THE CW, and HBO.
