LIL WAYNE PLAYS JESUS CHRIST?

We’ve just learned Lil Wayne will play the voice of Jesus Christ in T-Pain’s upcoming special on the Cartoon Network. The show is titled Freaknik and is based on the spring breaks in Atlanta that were shut down in the 90’s. Details surrounding the show are sparse, however we do know that the series will launch in March.

LADY GAGA TO PERFORM AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS

Lady Gaga, Pink and the Dave Matthews Band will join Beyonce, Taylor Swift and the Black Eyed Peas as performers for the 52nd annual GRAMMY Awards. Beyonce leads with ten nominations; Swift has eight. Maxwell, the Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West follow with six nods. Country act the Zac Brown Band and Green Day were also announced as performers. The GRAMMYS will be air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 31st.  

ROB THOMAS AND THE NBA TEAM UP

If you like watching the NBA, then you better get ready to hear some music from Rob Thomas.   That’s because the NBA Cares campaign is using the matchbox twenty frontman’s song “Someday” through the rest of the season.   The first promo-video, which features the likes of ballers Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, can be seen now at RobThomasMusic.com.

LEONA LEWIS GETS INJURED

Leona Lewis was thrown off a horse she was riding last week, but the singer-songwriter didn’t let it ruin her New Years Eve.   According to the New York Post, Lewis was taken to a hospital after the incident last Wednesday, where she was treated and put on crutches, but she resiliently showed up at Robin Thicke’s party in Las Vegas to ring in the New Year.   A source says that she leaned against her boyfriend all night because she didn’t want to be photographed on crutches.

A LEONA LEWIS/KINGS OF LEON COLLABORATION?

Will we be seeing a collaboration between Leona Lewis and the Kings of Leon?   According to ContactMusic.com, the “Bleeding Love” singer got in touch with the rockers after learning that they admired her music.   A source says that frontman Caleb Followill and his bandmates are “huge fans” of Leona.   No word yet on when the two sides will get together and record.

MADONNA IS MOST POPULAR CELEB IN U-K

Madonna was the most written about celebrity in the U-K this past decade, being mentioned in an astonishing 45-thousand stories in all the different British magazines and papers.   According to The Telegraph, coming in second was singer-songwriter Robbie Williams, who was followed closely by Britney Spears in third.   Both of them had just under 28-thousand mentions.

MADONNA’S DAUGHTER IS DATING

Madonna is known for having her private life in the public eye, but it appears that her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes is trying to do the opposite.   According to British paper The Daily Mail, the eldest of Madge’s children is dating someone, but wants to keep it very private.   A source says that Madonna is “totally fine” with her child dating because it’s “not that serious at the moment.”

WHITNEY TO BE HONORED BY BET

According to BET.com, Whitney Houston will receive the ultimate tribute when she accepts the Entertainment Honor at the 2010 BET Honors. To pay homage to Houston’s success, artists like Jennifer Hudson, Patti Labelle and Mary J. Blige are scheduled to perform during the event. Other honorees include Queen Latifah and Diddy. The show will air on Monday, February 1st at 9 PM Eastern on BET.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA GETS BIONIC

Christina Aguilera has opened up about her next studio release. The singer told Marie Claire magazine that the LP will be titled Bionic.   ThatGrapeJuice.net is reporting that the magazine reveals track titles including “Glam,” “Lullaby” and the title track, “Bionic.” The record is set to arrive in stores this spring. <JC>

B2K MEMBER ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

On Monday afternoon, former B2K singer J-Boog was arrested at his Los Angeles home on domestic violence related charges. According to TMZ, neighbors heard screaming inside the house, which prompted seven police cars to respond to the scene. The unmarried singer was charged with “corporal punishment on a spouse.” The victim is said to be the mother of his child. <WM>

SUSAN BOYLE ON TOP

According to Billboard, Susan Boyle is set to make chart history by topping the Billboard album chart for the sixth straight week. She’ll also come out as the top seller in the U-K after only five weeks on the charts, and her stateside sales will come in just a hair behind Taylor Swift, whose Fearless album has been on store shelves for over a year.     <JC>

USHER IS “FOOLING AROUND”

Rap-Up.com has gotten their hands on a new song from Usher titled “Fooling Around.” The Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox-produced track is scheduled to appear on the R&B star’s upcoming Raymond Vs. Raymond album, which drops sometime in March.

MTV NEWS ROCK ALBUMS FOR 2010

Now that 2010 has officially begun, which rock albums do we have to look forward to this year? MTV News has compiled a few including My Chemical Romance’s follow-up to The Black Parade, Blink-182 first new album since 2003, the third album from Arcade Fire, which is due out in May, and more. Also on the hook for releasing new music: The Strokes, Fleet Foxes, MGMT, Kid Rock, Radiohead and others.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND IS LIKE THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS

Vampire Weekend will put out their highly anticipated new album Contra next week, but the New York band uploaded the record onto their MySpace page this week. Rolling Stone compares the album to Wes Anderson’s film The Royal Tenenbaums, calling it “brainy, confident and generally awesome.” Fans can pick up Contra on January 12th. <SH>

U2 TALK GLASTONBURY

U2 are set to headline the U-K’s legendary Glastonbury festival later this year. The band will mark their first appearance at the event when they take the stage on June 25th. The Edge said, “If we don’t do it now, we never will” and added that he hopes they can make their mark on the annual festival.

U2 REMIXED

Tracks off U2 albums like All that You Cant Leave Behind, Pop, No Line on the Horizon and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb have been remixed for a CD collection that will be released via U2.com later this month. Trent Reznor has remixed tracks as well as Hot Chip, Justice and more. The set is titled Artificial Horizon and will be available to fan club members only.
