Warner Bros. Records will release a digital holiday album, entitled Gift Wrapped: 20 Songs That Keep On Giving, exclusively through iTunes beginning December 1st. It’s the first comprehensive holiday album release of its kind from the label.
In keeping with the holiday spirit, Gift Wrapped features both Christmas and Hanukkah songs, and includes classic standards and unique originals – nine of which were previously unavailable – from artists that span a variety of genres. The artists include Michael Bublé, R.E.M., My Chemical Romance, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Randy Travis, Regina Spektor, Dwight Yoakam and The Flaming Lips, plus several of Warner Bros. Records most promising newcomers: Foxy Shazam, Meaghan Smith and Nikki & Rich (who contributed an original song).
Highlights include Michael Buble’s live version of “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” (previously unavailable digitally on its own), My Chemical Romance’s take on Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” Jack’s Mannequin’s “Lights and Buzz” (previously unreleased digitally), Foxy Shazam’s cover of “Walking in the Air” (from the 1982 animated film The Snowman), and “A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn’t So),” from The Flaming Lips, who are riding high with the recent No. 8 debut of their new album Embryonic. In addition to the My Chemical Romance and Jack’s Mannequin tracks, the tracks by Mêlée, Jeremy Lister, Blake Shelton, and R.E.M. have never been available for sale until now.
