LADY GAGA SETS ANOTHER RECORD

Lady Gaga is the first artist in the 17-year history of Billboard’s Pop Songs chart to notch four number one singles from a debut album, as “Paparazzi” rises two spots to the summit.   Gaga’s “Just Dance,” “Poker Face” and “LoveGame” also topped the Pop chart earlier this year.   Her debut album, The Fame, has sold over 1.5-million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   The album will be re-released as The Fame Monster on November 23rd.  

LADY GAGA AND EMINEM TO PERFORM AT THE AMAS

Eminem and Lady Gaga will perform at the 2009 American Music Awards. They will join other previously announced acts including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Adam Lambert.   Both Gaga and Eminem are nominated for multiple awards at the event.   The show will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, November 22nd at 8 PM Eastern.  

LEONA LEWIS PERFORMS IN HOMETOWN

Leona Lewis performed at her first ever full-length concert Monday night, in the east London neighborhood where she grew up and still lives. According to the Associated Press, it marked a successful return to the public eye for the pop singer after she was punched in the face by an emotionally distraught man at a London book signing last month. Lewis has performed live in the past, but limited herself to singing just a few songs as she developed the material needed for a full-length show. She sang her signature hit “Bleeding Love” and also showcased numbers from her upcoming second album, Echo.   She also covered Snow Patrol’s song “Run,” which ended the concert with silver confetti falling down on the stage.  

OWL CITY AND CREED TOP ITUNES CHART

Owl City’s “Fireflies” is the most downloaded song on iTunes for the second consecutive week.   The tune held off Taylor Swift’s new single, “Jump Then Fall,” and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” which come in at number two and three respectively.   Creed’s Full Circle tops the iTunes album chart, besting the soundtrack to Michael Jackson’s This Is It.  

VIBE RELAUNCHES WITH CHRIS BROWN COVER

Vibe.com has released a sneak peek of their upcoming Chris Brown issue. Will he talk about Rihanna? Will there be any mention of his torn public image? So many questions and we’ll have to wait for those answers! Consumers should expect VIBE’s re-launch issue to hit newsstands everywhere on December 8th.

MARIAH WASN’T ALWAYS CONFIDENT WITH ACTING SKILLS

While promoting her new film Precious, Mariah Carey told Fox News that she was apprehensive about acting due to the tanking of 2001’s Glitter. The diva added that getting the chance to star in Precious was “such a liberating experience and yet humiliating” and she is “definitely inspired to work out of [her] comfort zone after this.” The flick hits theaters on November 6th.

SLASH WORKED WITH RIHANNA

Even though he’s been working hard on his solo album, Slash has found time to be a guest on other musicians’ records, including the upcoming effort from pop singer Rihanna.   Rolling Stone reports that the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist appears on the track “Rockstar 101” on Rihanna’s upcoming album, Rated R. That set is due out on the 23rd.  

BON JOVI TO PLAY IN GERMANY

Bon Jovi will perform during the celebrations surrounding the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.   Jon Bon Jovi told Billboard that the way he scored the November 9th gig was by writing a letter “to whom it may concern” stating that the band has had a relationship to Germany for years and that their new single, “We Weren’t Born to Follow” is relevant to the situation.   Jon also noted he was there 20 years ago, chipping away a piece of the wall when it came down.   The German government responded with an invitation.   Jon said, “It’s a pretty big deal.”   “We Weren’t Born to Follow” is off Bon Jovi’s new album, The Circle, which comes out on Tuesday.

NO SHOES FOR MICHAEL FRANTI

THE SCRIPT ON ALEXA

The Script just announced that they will be playing on the Alexa Chung Show on MTV on Monday, November 16th.   The Irish rockers seem very excited about the opportunity, and you can watch a video of them giving the details at Twitter.com/TheScript.

KELLY AND BEYONCE MASH-UP

Kelly Clarkson embraced the spirit of Halloween on Saturday night when she dressed up as “Stewie Griffin” from Family Guy during her set that evening.   Not only that, but the original American Idol played a mash-up of her song “Already Gone” with Beyonce’s “Halo,” which people, including Kelly, have said sound very similar.   See Kelly dressed as “Stewie” and hear her mash-up at PerezHilton.com.

TRAIN PERFORM NEW SINGLE

Train stopped by the offices of PopEater.com to play a song for the Web site.   They chose to perform an acoustic version of their first single “Hey, Soul Sister,” which is off their latest album, Save Me San Francisco.   The guys also discussed the track a little too.   See the video now at PopEater.com.

P!NK AND “SPONGEBOB’S” ANNIVERSARY

This Friday is the 10th anniversary of Spongebob Square Pants and the lovable sea-dweller is going to have a birthday bash with a pretty special guest.   International pop star P!nk will participate in the Spongebob 10th Anniversary Special.   It airs Friday at 8 PM eastern on Nickelodeon.

TAYLOR TWEETS ABOUT SNL

Taylor Swift is hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live this upcoming weekend, and it’s no shock to find out that she’s looking forward to the experience.   The country sensation took to her Twitter account to write that she just started the process and feels like she “might have a heart attack or pass out in the pitch meeting.”   She says it’s because she’s “that excited.”

FALL OUT BOY LYRICS

Fall Out Boy are releasing their Greatest Hits album on November 17th. A new song called “From Now On We Are Enemies” and lyrics for that tune have just hit the Internet. LIL WAYNE SUED FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Trouble continues to follow Lil Wayne. Not only is the rapper facing up to a year in prison for weapons possession, but he has just been slapped with another lawsuit. Billboard.com reports Weezy and Birdman are being sued by Thomas Marasciullo for copyright infringement. The lawsuit claims the rap stars used Marascuillo’s material without pay or permission for songs on their 2006 joint album Like Father, Like Son and Birdman’s 5 Star Stunna.

DIDDY TO RELEASE TWO NEW CIROC FLAVORS

According to BallerStatus.com, Diddy is getting ready to release two new flavors for his Ciroc vodka line — coconut and red-berry. Partygoers should expect the new line to be available early next year.
