BRITNEY SPEARS DEBUTS ON TOP

According to Billboard, Britney Spears is the first artist in over three years to debut at number one on the Hot 100, with her new single “3.”   The track off her upcoming hits set, The Singles Collection, sold over 255-thousand downloads in its first week of release.   “3” is the first title to debut at number one since Taylor Hicks’ American Idol-winning song “Do I Make You Proud” bowed at the top spot back in 2006.   Britney Spears’ debut single, “…Baby One More Time,” spent two weeks at number one in 1999 and “Womanizer” spent one week at the top, exactly one year ago this week.   Spears’ The Singles Collection will hit stores on November 24th.  

KISS ARMY BEAT BY MICHAEL BUBLE

Michael Buble’s Crazy Love debuts at number one on the Billboard album chart after selling 132-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   Buble surprised many insiders by beating out Kiss, who bow at number two with their Wal-Mart-exclusive studio album Sonic Boom, shifting 108-thousand copies.   Toby Keith notches his tenth top 10 album on the chart, as American Ride opens at number three.   Last week’s number one album, Barbra Streisand’s Love is the Answer, slides to number four, while Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 surpasses the one million sales mark and climbs one spot to number five.   Luke Bryan bows at number six with Doin’ My Thing, Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel falls four spots to number seven, while Miley Cyrus’ The Time of our Lives EP climbs three spots to number eight.   The Backstreet Boys have their seventh consecutive top 10 album with This Is Us debuting at number nine and Breaking Benjamin’s Dear Agony rounds out the top ten.  

SHAKIRA STATUE

According to Billboard, a 15-foot statue of Shakira is gracing her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia.   The statue was donated by a German sculptor in 2006 and features the singer wearing bell bottoms and strumming a guitar.   Shakira’s third English album, She Wolf, is out now.

BEYONCE INCLUDES LADY GAGA IN NEW VIDEO

According to Life & Style magazine, Beyonce has recruited Lady Gaga to appear in the video for her new single “Video Phone.”   A source told the mag that Gaga and Bey worked together at a studio in New York City last week and security was very tight on set. Though they are trying to keep the video “hush-hush,” the source claimed “Beyoncé “wears a feathered dress. And of course Lady Gaga wears something wild. The fashion is sick and insane.”

RIVERS CUOMO WORKING WITH KATY PERRY

Rivers Cuomo has confirmed that he will be working with Katy Perry on her new album. The Weezer singer says he can’t wait to write with the pop singer. Although he also revealed in the interview with Buzznet that he has no idea who Megan Fox is so he’s not completely mainstream, just yet. Weezer’s new album Raditude is out on November 3rd.  

LEONA LEWIS ATTACKED

According to Access Hollywood, Leona Lewis was attacked at a book signing in London on Wednesday afternoon. The singer was punched as she was signing copies of her new autobiography, Dreams, at a London bookstore.   Lewis’ spokesperson said that the assailant was arrested for actual bodily harm while the star was taken to a hospital for treatment. Leona’s second album, Echo, is due out later this year.  

JORDIN SPARKS COVER’S KATY PERRY

Jordin Sparks recently went to visit the BBC studios in England, and while there, performed a cover of Katy Perry’s hit song “Hot N Cold.”   The former American Idol also played her latest single, “S.O.S (Let The Music Play).”   Watch the performance now at JordinSparks.com.

DAUGHTRY TO KICK OFF TOUR

It was just announced that Daughtry has been nominated for an American Music Award.   The band was nominated in the category of Adult Contemporary Music Favorite Artist, giving them their sixth nomination in three years.   Meanwhile, Daughtry will also be hitting the road in support of their latest album Leave This Town.   The trek kicks off on Monday in Topeka, Kansas and runs until December 20th.   The American Music Awards take place on November 22nd and air live on ABC.   For more info on the band’s tour, head to DaughtryOfficial.com.

FREE SHOW FROM THE FRAY

The Fray are performing an intimate free show tonight in Paris, France.   The Denver rockers will be playing The International, with only 200 tickets being given to the first people in line.   Check out TheFray.net as the band is sure to post footage from the one-of-a-kind show.

SOULJA BOY IS A BAD TENANT

Not only does Soulja Boy reportedly owe ten-thousand dollars in unpaid bills for his L-A luxury apartment, the rapper has also directly violated his lease agreement with noise disturbances and over-crowding the residence. TMZ obtained a letter from Soulja’s landlord who claims the emcee has abused the guest parking lot services by letting ten guests stay overnight when only two are allowed. According to TMZ, Toni Braxton has reportedly defaulted on her mortgage payments. The singer owes almost 13 grand on her home in Century City, California and it’s looking like Bank Of America is ready to foreclose her property. Ouch! Head over to TMZ to learn more.

50 CENT GETS PUSHED BACK AGAIN…

According to his official Web site, 50 Cent has yet again delayed his much hyped Before I Self Destruct. The project was aimed to hit shelves on November 17th, however fans will now have to pick up the disc on November 23rd.   That’s a popular day since on the 23rd, Timbaland’s Shock Value 2, Rihanna’s fourth album, Lady Gaga’s re-release of The Fame Monster and Britney Spears’ The Singles Collection all come out.

USHER UNVEILS NEW FRAGRANCE

Usher is not only working on his upcoming Raymond Vs Raymond album, he’s also been putting the finishing touches on his new Usher VIP cologne. The singer describes the fragrance as “a gentlemen’s scent, which would also appeal to women” and can be used as a “tool of engagement for seduction.” Prices for Usher’s new product range from 40 to 65 dollars. ROBIN THICK PREPS NEW ALBUM

Robin Thicke told Rap-Up.com that his much anticipated upcoming Sex Therapy album will be “different than anything I’ve ever done before.” His effort will feature production from Polow Da Don — who crafted the lead single — as well as Scott Storch, Jeff Bhasker and Surf Club. Fans should expect Sex Therapy to arrive just in time for the holidays; it’ll be available on December 8th.

WALE TEAMS UP WITH RIHANNA

Rap-Up.com has gotten their hands on a new song from Wale featuring the one and only Rihanna. The two came together on “Contemplate,” which is slated to appear on the rapper’s upcoming debut album Attention: Deficit, which drops November 10th. The cut will also be featured on DJ Haze & DJ Capcom’s Leaders of the New Empire mixtape.

KANYE’S MOM PROMPTS NEW HEALTH LAW

The unfortunate passing of Kanye West’s late mother has inspired the state of California to ensure certain mandates be in place when doctors conduct plastic surgery. As of Monday, The Donda West Law Assembly Bill has officially been passed and will help save lives as surgeons will now have to do health checks and get written clearances before beginning medical procedures. Ye’s 58-year-old mom died while receiving cosmetic surgery.  

U2 TALK TO SPACE CENTER

U2’s new stage set up is pretty spacey so it’s appropriate that Bono and The Edge recently visited the Johnson Space Center. The musicians were given a tour by working astronauts and then spoke to members at the International Space Station. The Irish band asked what the astronauts could see from space and wondered if they could see the U2 360 stage from way up in the atmosphere. Bono finished the chat saying, “You remind people on earth the impossible is possible. This is an amazing church of possibilities that you represent.”
