PAINTED ON WATER, the duo of star Turkish performers, whose self-titled album project by the vocalist Sertab Erener and composer/guitarist Demir Demirkan, will return to these shores in September for a series of dates, following on the heels of their recent triumphant Central Park/Summerstage performance in front of 7,000 fans, as part of the “Istanbulive” event. Introducing songs from their June 9th Motema Records release; the pair dazzled the Central Park audience. Fans responded with a standing ovation, marking Painted On Water’s first ever outdoor U.S. concert as unforgettable. Shouting their names at the end of their set, Sertab and Demir obliged the crowd by returning to the stage for one more song “Every Way That I Can” (winner, Eurovision Contest 2003) before the rain came pouring down. Their band included Tulug Tirpan on piano, Andres Rotmistrovsky on bass, Engin Gunaydin on drums and Keita Ogawa on percussion.
Tour cities already confirmed include New York (Sept. 2nd, Le Poisson Rouge); Boston (September 3rd, Tower Auditorium at Mass Arts); Houston (September 6th, Meridian Club); San Francisco (September 11th, Fox Theatre); Seattle (September 12th, Studio Seven); Los Angeles (September 13th, Good Hurt Club). Separate tour dates for Sertab and Demir outside of the U.S. are currently underway and the upcoming U.S. dates will re-unite the pair for Painted On Water performances.
