Back to school season will be a little easier to cope with this fall as the New Boyz plan to drop their debut album Skinny Jeanz & A Mic September 15, 2009 on Asylum/Warner Bros. Records.
The trend-setting single “You’re A Jerk” (dubbed “pretty much perfect” by the New York Times) has become a phenomena and the soundtrack to a culture defined by acrobatic footwork, loud colors, and–much to the chagrin of hip-hop purists and critics alike–their notorious skinny jeans. Abandoning the aloof conventions of their genre, Legacy and Ben J hope that Skinny Jeanz & A Mic will be able to infuse some diversity and youthful nonchalance within a community complicated by warring old and new schools.
