While busy working on her new EP set for release this Spring, Seattle’s rising pop singer/songwriter Amanda Markley has been turning heads by dropping a slew of raw, stripped down covers that highlight the strongest female pop artists. Recently, Amanda released a chilling rendition of Joy Williams’ “What A Good Woman Does” (ft. producer Chase Manhattan of Night Argent), which will be featured on her forthcoming EP. Last night, the starlet released another awe-inspiring live acoustic video covering Halsey’s “Hurricane” along with musician D.J. Brennan, which can be viewed here. Like the others, “Hurricane” highlights the singer’s uniquely hypnotic tone that traps the listener into a fever dream. Here is what Markley had to say about why she chose to cover “Hurricane”:

“Halsey is an artist I look up to. Her lyrics are so raw and real that they are very powerful. I chose this song because it is a reminder to stay strong and be independent. I was excited to work with DJ Brennan to put my own spin on this song.” – Amanda Markley
