Madeline Speak
www.sonicbids.com/MadelineSpeak
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for February 2010?Madeline Speak: Feels great! This year is our debut year so we’re really excited about everything, so we’re very appreciative and feel blessed with everything that comes our way.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?
Madeline Speak: We are currently on our debut tour, touring around Southern California and letting the people hear us live. Our live shows have always been one of our favorite things to do, and I think people will see who we really are, up close and personal. And of course, talking with radio stations and magazines such as yourselves is always a treat getting the word out.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please incliude the URL?
Madeline Speak: Our music video is in the post production process, after many long hours of shooting, so it’s not ready for viewing to the public quite yet, but we can let you know as soon as it’s ready.
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?
Madeline Speak: Hmm… I think most creative ideas come either in the late night or early morning, a lot of times in my dreams I’ll be given a song or will be writing a song in the dream… and then it’s a matter of replicating what went on. Editing and recording is generally just done in the mid afternoon evening time… just cuz it’s most convenient to do so for myself.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Madeline Speak: Well we’re starting our tour and as the singer/songwriter/founder of the groupI have been writing new material that will be ready soon… our official website www.madelinespeak.com is coming up and they can get updates on us by joining our newsletter speak@madelinespeak.com, or add us to our myspace www.myspace.com/madelinespeak or our facebook at www.facebook.com/madelinespeak. They can also follow us on twitter on twitter.com/madelinespeak. We’re also posting up our blog real soon and we’re all very excited about that! If they are in the southern california area they can come out and get a little nutty with us on our debut tour ;)
YOUNG FAME
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for February 2010?Young Fame: It feels great to be chosen as an A2W artist for February, it just shows that the harder one works at their craft the more it will pay off. Sooner or later someone will give you a break in this tough music business so I am thankful to Skope for believing in my talent and giving me a chance to shine.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?Young Fame: I am currently working on the release of my single “MY STAR” which is my first single off of my Debut album GREEN ARROW to be released sometime This September. By the way “MY STAR” is produced by Gold Certified producer DJ PAIN and Co Published by Warner/Chappell Music. The song can be found on all ITUNE & AMAZON stores the more downloads we have the closer we will get to signing a label deal because as you know the song is co published by Warner/Chappell so they are keeping track on sales and radio spins so hopefully Skope Magazine will help generate more fans & sales for us.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please incliude the URL?Young Fame: If anyone wants to see more and hear more of my music they can holla at me on http://www.myspace.com/artistyoungfame I have my very 1st video on their called TAKE WHATS MINE it’s a video to my hood anthem.
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?Young Fame: I don’t really have a favorite time of day but I usually write at night because that’s when everyone is sleeping and I can get into my zone. Yea so let’s say night time.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Young Fame: I am currently in the studio recording two more songs for my album, one is featuring Casely who was on Epic Records from Miami Dade and hopefully the other will feature Super Star Russian Sensation Bianka. So that’s what I am working on right now for my future releases. I would like to send a shout out to Tre’ and Russell B at 3 Shots Productions for making all this possible for me, 3 Shots Productions is our label. Deuces to all my fans, YOUNG FAME out.
Ghost Ghost
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for February 2010?Ghost Ghost: We’ve been watching you too, we get Google Alerts for anything about Miley Cyrus. Seriously though, thanks so much. OK Go is one of Tim’s favorite bands, so we’re stoked to be in your magazine with them right now.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?Ghost Ghost: We just put out two albums on March 1. One is called Of Innocence and Experience, and it’s a rock EP displaying the band at full volume, with a beautiful watercolor cover done by our resident artist Charlie Kemmerer. It is available on the web and also as a special colored vinyl release. The other album is called No Clothes on Ragged Island, and it is a folk/rock record written in a single day and recorded in a single week. The ten songs tell the story of the life of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. Our next project is a top secret concept album. We can’t say too much about it yet, other than it is something that has never been done in pop music, and it is a tale of star crossed lovers set in Manhattan’s Lower East Side in the late seventies.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please incliude the URL?Ghost Ghost: Here’s “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre” from our first album, live in Brooklyn, complete with onstage painting by Charlie Kemmerer: http://www.youtube.com/user/ghostghostband#p/u/18/tEQD8b0Vu-c
We have quite a few videos on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ghostghostband
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?Ghost Ghost: We just wrote an entire album in one day, so the best answer is probably “all day.” But in weeks where we are not writing an album in a day and recording it in a week… Kevin has insomnia, and sometimes he goes days on end without sleeping, songs springing forth fully armored from his head. Karl usually writes songs in the middle of the day, surrounded by books and black coffee. The band practices, arranges, and performs in the evening/night several times every week. So maybe the answer really is “all day,” because at any given hour one of us is likely to be writing, arranging, or playing somewhere.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Ghost Ghost: Come see us perform in Austin at South By Southwest! Our website is http://www.ghostghost.net , where you can find out what’s happening with us right now. We play a lot in New York City and surrounding areas, so if you’re in town, check our website for upcoming shows and come out to see us.
Lovehead
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?
Lovehead: I’ve actually discovered a lot of cool bands from Skope myself so when we were picked we were totally over the moon. Also you are the first publication to give us some press and you know what they say? You never forget your first time! We spent a long time in the studio making our first record and by the time you’re finished with the state of the music business you can’t help wondering if anyone will ever get to hear it. More importantly will they like it? Thanks guys.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?
Lovehead: We’re about to start recording demos for a second album which is very exciting because we think we’re getting better and more confident about our music. Also we get to re-invent ourselves and choose a different direction. I mean do you go all retro and Rock N Roll or join the legions of other artists on some mad gold rush to create something totally new on a synth? Will you give your music a defined structure or take a big artistic risk and try something totally different? Lot’s of production or raw, lo-fi and vibey? Can’t wait to find out.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please incliude the URL?
Lovehead: www.myspace.com/officiallovehead
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?
Lovehead: I don’t why but for me I am most creative between 9pm and 3am. The neighbours don’t like it but I find it hard to create Rock N Roll in daylight. Maybe there was some truth in all the fear during the 50s that it was the devil’s music?
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?
Lovehead: It’s all happening for Lovehead at the moment. Our first single ‘Sexy Disco’ goes and debuit album ‘Vanity Project’ goes out in May, we’re shooting a video, playing summer festivals and writing new material. All we need now is an army of Lovehead lovers and we’ll be the happiest boys on the planet.

Whiskey Six

Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?WHISKEY SIX: We really appreciate the opportunity Skope Magazine provides to independent artists. The exposure you provide is so critical to up and coming bands. The music industry is so global and diverse now; to be able to communicate with everyone out there through mediums like this is amazing.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?WHISKEY SIX: We’re all over the board! We’ve got some shows coming up in Phoenix, we’re opening for Powerman 5000 in June, and now we’re looking to play a few shows in Los Angeles this summer. Plus, we hope to get back to the studio and record some of our newer stuff. We’ve pretty much hit the ground running- three weeks after the band started last November, we won a contest sponsored by the #1 radio station in Phoenix and opened for Steel Panther. It’s been crazy ever since.
We’re also in two contests that could change things as well- the Guitar Center Play with Slash contest and the Ernie Ball Warped Tour contest. The opportunity to play with Slash or to play the Phoenix date of the Warped Tour would be tremendous. The links are available on our website and we encourage everyone to vote for us!

Jerry Oliver
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?Jerry Oliver: It feels great! It’s always good to get a little recognition and publicity. Most of all it’s great to know our music might reach a few more ears because of it.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?Jerry Oliver: My main focus right now is recording an album of all new original songs with my new band Spider Poets. We are also getting ready for some live shows coinciding with the release of our album at the end of May and on into the summer and hopefully beyond. Don’t miss Spider Poets album release party at the Bella Vida Music Festival at Harmony Park in Geneva , Minnesota on Sunday morning May 30th!
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please include the URL?Jerry Oliver: No official videos yet. Just some lo-fi live clips and one home made video for the upcoming Spider Poets song Mother Damaged Letter. After writing it I tried recording an experimental video of a solo performance in front of my iMac and it turned out pretty cool. I hope you enjoy it. Watch for a band version in the months ahead. The Youtube url link is below. The video is also on the home page at jerryoliver.com as well as on myspace.com/jerryoliver and reverbnation.com/jerryoliver
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EctvqAHD1FE
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?
Jerry Oliver: My problem is that sometimes I don’t know when to put it down. I feel like if I’m awake I’m in creative mode and I should be using my time to create. That’s not always great for relationships and social skills…so I try to find some balance. Luckily my wife is a driven artist too so we coexist pretty great. My absolute favorite time to create is in the morning. I guess that’s when I’m most awake. There is nothing like that fresh time of day when you haven’t answered the phone or let in any other contaminations of the world yet and you can just be still and wait…Listen to the sounds of the street, birds, get that first cup of coffee…new strings, a pad and pen, a plugged in microphone and the record button ready whenever I am.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Jerry Oliver: The biggest things coming up are the recording sessions for the Spider Poets album which are taking place now and through the month of April. Then on Memorial Day weekend we will be playing at The Bella Music Fest in Minnesota. Our set opens the main stage on Sunday May 30th. We will be celebrating our album release.
Readers can learn more about us at www.jerryoliver.com and www.reverbnation.com/jerryoliver. We’d love it if you joined our email list. That’s when you really get the inside scoop. Just enter your email in the Fan List box on any of the Jerry Oliver websites. Be sure to become a fan on Facebook too. All of our official signed up fans receive exclusive downloads and other fan only releases.
Blu Lyon
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?Blu Lyon: It’s a beautiful feeling for someone to just take the time to listen to my music, so to be recognized as an artist people should pay attention to by a publication like Skope feels Amazing. It definitely helps your self esteem for those times when you are facing those hardships trying to be successful in this business.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavors?Blu Lyon: I am working on promoting and finishing my debut CD “Super Blue’s Bastard Son” and an itinerary for a tour. I also produce, so I am getting into composing music for TV and Film projects.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please include the URL?Blu Lyon: I have a music video for my first single “They Keep Calling”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fNgEK_bFNM
Once the project is complete there will be more videos shot. I have already completed treatments for three (3) new ones. There are also videos of shows I performed on my Myspace page and Youtube. All you have to do is search my name.
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?Blu Lyon: Lol. All day everyday. Most work actually gets completed in the extremely early hours of the morning, but there is no real favorite time for me. I have favorite places like the kitchen in Beatmania Studios. That’s a studio in New York that I frequently use and for some reason the kitchen is the creative spot for me. There is also the bus and train, whenever I do take them. I can honestly say that my most creative works have been born in those atmospheres.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Blu Lyon: My CD “Super Blue’s Bastard Son” will be out in June. I have performance dates in the New York area coming up towards the end of spring and when the summer comes into full swing I should be heading out of state on my own tour or that of someone else. I am also producing the music for a very promising new reality series featuring some past VH1 reality stars. The show is called “Work It Out” and its being done by Tony Money and Sebastian from www.Shifted2u.com. For any and all news about me you can check out that site, www.myspace.com/blulyon and of course my sonicbids page. You can also follow me on twitter @Blu_Lyon. My music is available on itunes, rhapsody, amazon, napster and other online stores.

It happens at the strangest times, so I always have a pen and paper with me everywhere I go…I write and produce all of my music as well, so once I get an idea going, I won’t stop for days.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?Jezda: My new single “BOOTIES R SHAKIN” is about to hit the radio, so be sure to listen for it and request it fosho:) You can find me at twitter.com/jezdajuice. Keep in touch…

Tori Allen
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?Tori Allen: Wonderful! I feel like the more i can achieve as an artist just goes to show that it is possible to move up in this industry. You know, i’m only 17 years old, and i get put down alot for that. People think that i’m too young to see what it takes to be a musician at my age, but its not about age, its about the passion. And i love to do what i love most; music is my passion, and when people like my music, its the best feeling in the world!
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?Tori Allen: I just released my first album in January, Stuck In This House. In April i will be right back in the studio recording a five song EP that will be released this summer, 2010. Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?
Krista Ravengael: It feels really great! It is a real honor to be included among such established and talented musicians like Cypress Hill, Lady Gaga, and Drive By Truckers.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavors?
Krista Ravengael: I am currently working on songs for my upcoming CD, tentatively titled Manic-Depressive. The idea is that one “side” of the CD will be upbeat and funny while the other “side” will be more introspective and melancholy. We’ll see how it turns out!
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please include the URL?
Krista Ravengael: I currently have a video on Youtube. It is of a song I wrote for my last CD, Thanks, but No. The song is called “Plea for Damien Echols.” I wrote it for Damien Echols, one of the members of the group that is known as The West Memphis 3. Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?
Krista Ravengael: I would say that anytime after dusk is my favorite time to write music. I work as a special education teacher, so I usually can’t write during the day. I have always been a night owl, so I would have to say that I have always been most creative at night.

Krista Ravengael: As I mentioned, I am writing songs for the new CD. I am also planning a west coast regional tour for the summer and plan to play some festivals, as well. Finally, I am working on a book of humorous stories based on my experiences.

Where’s Lawrence?
www.sonicbids.com/WheresLawrencemusic
Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?WL?: Like a dream come true.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?WL?: We just released our first album, The Boy in the Well, which is conceptual piece of mythology. And are now writing our second album bound to be called Shapeshifter.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please incliude the URL?WL?: We do. A close friend of ours named Shawn O’Connor made a music video to one of our songs which can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/v/z55gkhANPAs&hl=en&fs=1” and then another friend of ours, Sam Swanson made a video for every song on our album which we play to live every now and again. One of the videos is on VIMEO and found at this URL: http://vimeo.com/6763594 . They both did swell jobs.
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?WL?: Well I think early mornings are nice, though not everything is working right, but it’s still the most peaceful time of day because nothing’s happened yet and you have no idea what is to come. The roommates are still asleep, and I’ll play quietly and sing under my breath and just kind of run along the fret board until something catches my attention.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?WL?: Everything is still in planning stages. Trying to set up a small tour through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas for May at the moment. If not there’s a chance we’ll be making our way to Virginia later this summer. We’ve got several things pending with different gigs and tours throughout the country really. Again, we’re writing for our second album, Shapeshifter. So a lot is still just getting built at the moment. But to keep up with us you can check out our myspace, www.myspace.com/whereslawrence where we post blogs every now and then.

Skope: How does it feel to be chosen as an “A2W” artist for March 2010?
Voice Of Addiction: We are excited about the continued support Skope has shown us, we previously had been added to their music player. We really dig what they are doing for the music scene.
Skope: What are you currently working on in your musical endeavours?
Voice Of Addiction: Voice Of Addiction is primarily a live band, playing over 100 shows in 2009 alone, and we are on pace to beat last year so far in 2010. We also just finished a couple more songs, and are now playing them live. These will be on the upcoming album.
Skope: If you have any videos on Myspace or Youtube that we can show readers please include the URL? Voice Of Addiction: www.youtube.com/voiceofaddiction – We are currently working on a DVD including our costume set on Halloween of Operation Ivy’s “Energy” album. I will be throwing clips up as the editing is being finished.
Skope: What is your favorite time of day to create music?
Voice Of Addiction: When the inspiration hits, you just gotta grab the guitar or whatever and write everything down. I have even woken up in my sleep before with an idea, and hammered it out on the guitar before heading back to bed.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?
Voice Of Addiction: When we aren’t on the road we have been working with boutique Chicago studio “Stranded on a Planet” with our producer Scott Fritz on our 4th release “Reduce Reuse Resist” We plan to release this late summer early fall.
