Bandits on the Run to perform at NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest On The Road: NYC Showcase
Comprised of cellist/badass Sydney Torin Shepherd (who goes by the moniker “Bonanza Jellyfish,”) guitarist/fool Adrian Blake Enscoe (“Roy Dodger,”) and player-of-toys/clairvoyant Regina Strayhorn (“Clarissa,”) with a sound forged while busking in the acoustics of NYC subway stations, the group’s signature 3-part harmonic voice stands at the center of their musical equation. Throw in some serious cello action, hooks played on various and sundry toy instruments, and a steely spine of rhythm guitar all accompanied by a suitcase drum packing a powerful punch and bang: you’ve got the basic magic of banditry. Their signature, un-pin-down-able sound veers from shades of Motown to witch-pop to folk-soul to punk-rock on a dime. Bandits on the Run are also known far and wide for bringing various non-music shenanigans to their live performances including shadow puppet shows, costumed characters, and party favors.

Fuego grab the extinguisher
“When I turned seventeen I use to make fun of a family friend being in a rap group. I use to recite my friends rhymes every time someone would ask me to rap. I use making fun of their verses, until one day they said to me why don’t you try it since you think it’s so easy. Then I began to write verses in my composition book, really influenced by lyricist such as Canibus, Jadakiss, Nas, Biggie and Jay-z. I concentrated on punch lines. I am known for always saying the catchy metaphors.” – Kick 5000

BILLYBIO (Biohazard/Powerflo) Releases Volatile New Music Video for “Enemy”
BILLYBIO says about “Enemy”: “I wrote a song about the two sides of a political enemy. Is the political detainee who stands up for his kind, sacrificing their own well-being for the benefit of everyone else, an actual enemy? Is the person who stands up for those who can’t stand on their own, a friend or a foe? One of the most controversial subjects while I was writing this song was waterboarding, the scene at the end of the video was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. There are two sides in life, with, or against. Pick one.”
