Canadian artist Billy Moon releases his debut LP, Punk Songs, today on Old Flame Records. A mix of high-energy, punk-infused tracks and softer, heartfelt ballads, you can now stream the album on Spotify.
Having grown up in a small, rural town in Ontario, many of the songs on Moon’s new release were inspired by his adolescent years, navigating life in small-town Canada. They explore themes of self-doubt and teen angst, tackling everything from boredom and anxiety to unrequited love. Highlights from the album include “Living Room” — a song about the necessity of throwing house shows when there are no music venues around — and double single “White Shoes / Dingus,” the latter about being “fallible and vulnerable and insufferable,” but also comfortable with who you are.
