Mazie Releases New Single/Video

“Oh My God” is a dance-floor ready anthem that offers Mazie’s perspective on imbalance between a persistent young man at a typical college party and a girl just trying to enjoy her night. Behind the ear-worm melody and addictively ethereal vibes, Mazie offers an important message about boundaries. Like most songwriters that have been able to strike that delicate balance between pop sensibility and the pursuit of thoughtful artistry, Mazie has managed to wrap a meaningful statement in a carefully crafted and engaging single.

10 String Symphony to Release ‘Generation Frustration’ on July 13

Two years after releasing Weight of the World, the sophomore recording which earned attention from NPR: All Songs Considered, a #3 slot on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts, and took them on tour all over the US, UK, and Australia, 10 String Symphony felt the desire to expand their acoustic, stripped down sound. On July 13th, the band will release Generation Frustration, produced by Kris Drever of the Scottish band LAU. The new album digs even deeper into the potential for experimentation with stringed instruments while highlighting new depths in the pair’s original songwriting. Unafraid of pushing boundaries, the resulting songs are as challenging as they are beautiful. Today, American Songwriter Magazine exclusively premiered the first single, “One Way Telephone,” an “…affecting ballad,” noting that the “…two Nashville musicians have built complex worlds of sound from just a handful of instruments– two fiddles… with the occasional five-string banjo.”

Texas’ genre-bending rock ‘n’ roller Israel Nash announces the release of his fifth studio album, Lifted, on July 27th, 2018 via Desert Folklore Music/Thirty Tigers. Debuting the album’s first single “Rolling On” with Magnet Magazine, they describe, “The ethereal ode to perseverance neatly encapsulates the ambitious sonic direction and pronounced optimism of the LP as a whole, which marries the steel-guitar-drenched psychedelic country/folk vibe of his last two releases with layers of echoey ’60s-pop classicism.” The track acts as the album’s manifesto, an anthem of urgency, encouraging the listener to let go of yesterday’s troubles and move forward with positivity. Listen to “Rolling On” here. Lifted is available for pre-order here.

In an interview with Billboard, Davis explains, “I was talking to [Erin] about this person I was seeing when I was 20 years old, living in a shitty little apartment. He exposed me to Tom Waits and vinyl and stuff like that. So (the song is) a merging of the fact she got married when she was young; The chorus is about that, and the rest of the song is nostalgia from this relationship I had when I was young.”

The Estate of Michael Jackson Releases Statement Regarding ABC News Special on Michael Jackson

We want consumers to know that The Last Days of Michael Jackson, a television special airing on ABC TV (a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) tomorrow May 24, is not sponsored or approved by the Estate of Michael Jackson. It is particularly disheartening that Disney, a company known to strongly believe in protecting its own IP rights, would choose to ignore these rights belonging to the Estate.

ABC was using a copyrighted photo and silhouette image owned by the Estate in the trailers and promotional material for the special. Only after notice from our attorneys to ABC News indicating they were infringing on our IP rights were the materials removed. We are told ABC intends to use music and other intellectual property owned by the Estate such as photos, logos, artwork, and more in the program itself, without having licensed the rights to any such material. Imagine if this was done with any of ABC’s intellectual property. We believe the special to be another crass and unauthorized attempt to exploit the life, music and image of Michael Jackson without respect for Michael’s legacy, intellectual property rights or his children. – The Estate of Michael Jackson

JC Stewart releases new single ‘Medicine’

Speaking about the song’s inspiration JC explains “Medicine started as a couple of lines in a deleted note on my phone. I went over the chorus melody again and a again for about 4 months before I figured it out! Over the awe inspiring setting of building a set of flat pack drawers in a Brighton student house, it just popped into my head and that was really it. It’s a super simple song with real lyrics which is why I think I connect to it so much. I am so excited for people to be able to hear it and the other songs coming out over the next few months!”
