NEW EP BY MAXIMONO
Following a slew of releases via esteemed labels Simma Black, Criminal Hype and Crossfrontier Audio, as well as previous successes in the drum & bass scene, house project Maximono are the latest recruits to join Amine Edge & DANCE’s fledgling CUFF imprint for their debut EP, ‘Shake or Break’.
With their style hailed as “Shakin’ House” – an amalgamation of bass, house, hip-hop and breakbeats – by the CUFF label heads and already receiving huge support from the likes of Tchami, Hannah Wants and Caspa, ‘Shake or Break”s distinct sound is instantly impactful. Opening track ‘The Cannibal’ follows a bass-heavy framework that’s equipped with scary vocal bits and the leading phrase “it was only a nightmare”, whilst follow up ‘Stop Frontin’s old skool sounding production is perpetuated by a series of storming bass licks and plenty of twists and turns.
THE RADIO DEPT. “OCCUPIED”
The Radio Dept. premieres “Occupied” today. It’s the first single off their long awaited fourth album. “Occcupied” is out on limited edition 12″ vinyl and digital.
TOM DIABO ALBUM STREAM
Tom Diabo was born Thomas Eicke in Germany circa 1957. A young resident of northwest German city, Wuppertal, Diabo’s few traces remain solely as credits in a handful of revelatory recordings the songwriter issued during his role as prime mover in Wuppertal’s punk and art scene. Singing in rough yet genuinely employed English, Diabo’s influences were eclectic. He was a forward-thinking punk with as much love for John Lennon and Neil Young as England’s punk outfits du jour. Dark Star captures this dynamic mix of gothic punk and American western with the archival purity ofs other home-recorded masterpieces. Yet, Diabo’s music is much more American than Anglo, drawing from rockabilly riffs and evoking a cinematic noir-ish psyche.

RON BEATTY “HEARD ABOUT ME”
Emerging from New Bern, a small city nestled in Eastern North Carolina, is Ron Beatty; a southern rapper who shares the same mentors as Roc Nation’s Grammy Award Nominated Artist, J. Cole.
On “Heard About Me” he reflects on difficult family issues and his come up in the game.
The song is from Ron Beatty’s forthcoming project, Manifest Destiny.

RENNY WILSON NEW SINGLE
Punk Explosion/Extension, or Punk Ex for short, is the latest musical detour from the loins of Canadian avant-pop artist Renny Wilson. The album calls back to snotty ’70s punk, cornball classic rock, and scratchy ’90s garage punk, making more than subtle hints at the past while painting a clear picture of the future.
Originally available as an extremely limited abridged cassette – simply titled Punk Explosion – the album is being treated to a vinyl re-release by Mint Records on July 10. This new version of Punk Ex sees the addition of four previously unreleased songs, including “Escaping Alive.”

RAW CALIBRE “MADMAN” MUSIC VIDEO
In advance of their debut ‘Hierarchy’ EP (coming in July), UK hip hop/grime trio Raw Calibre have just released a highly metaphorical music video for their first single “Madman.” The video, which was premiered by Bloody Disgusting, stars the group’s three members and brings the song’s politically-charged lyrics to life. Taking the stylized violence of A Clockwork Orange to new extremes, the video shows a mad scientist (representing the middle class) performing twisted experiments on a destitute man who embodies the lower class, while the sharply-dressed upper class pulls all the strings.
