JACK WHITE’S LAZARETTO #1 SELLING VINYL RELEASE OF 2014
It’s official: with the final sales week of 2014 having drawn to a close, Jack White’s Lazaretto (Third Man Records/Columbia) is the #1 selling vinyl release of 2014. With 86,707 copies of its ULTRA LP sole vinyl configuration sold in the U.S. since its June 10 release, and a worldwide total exceeding 150,000, Lazaretto not only took the top spot in the 2014 vinyl sales chart—it posted the highest vinyl sales year of the Soundscan era.
NEWBORN SINGLE “UMA”
Hard alt/rock trio Newborn releases the second single, “Uma,” from their forthcoming debut EP, Broken Virgo, due out February 10, 2015. Self-recording the EP at Grand Street Studios, the Coney-Island natives are forging a path for a new generation of rock lovers with a DIY attitude and mainstream accessibility.

Recorded in Madison’s DNA Studios, this is the third time the band has worked with producer Mark Whitcomb; most recently on Romero’s 2013 Take The Potion LP. Producer, Frank Arkwright, of the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, UK, was the mastering engineer for the project. Arkwright’s discography reads like a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of music. He has worked with some of the world’s greatest bands, including Arcade Fire, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, Coldplay, Oasis, Snow Patrol and Primal Scream.

Acclaimed hip hop trio N.E.R.D., featuring Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shae Haley, has reunited for the sake of Bikini Bottom, delivering their first new music in nearly five years for the new SpongeBob SquarePants theatrical release, “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water,” from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, which hits theaters February 6, 2015.
N.E.R.D. created three new songs for the much-anticipated film. The first song, “Squeeze Me,” is available everywhere today, including iTunes and Spotify.
