Educating The Children (ETC) through its latest initiative, Code Queen, which provides free training in sought-after tech skills to young unemployed women within Uganda, is thrilled to announce its five-year-anniversary celebration, ‘Code Queen @ 5’. The event highlights a milestone achievement: over 500 young women have now graduated from the program, of over 80% have been linked to further opportunities in technology, including jobs, internships, further training, and apprenticeships.

The event will take place on Friday 28th March 2025, at Motiv Bugolobi in Kampala Uganda, bringing together alumni, mentors, industry leaders, and aspiring tech enthusiasts to celebrate the program’s remarkable journey and impact over the past five years in Uganda.

Organized and sponsored by Educating the Children (ETC), this event underscores the UK registered charity’s commitment to empowering women in East Africa through education and training initiatives that make them more employable.

Since its inception, ETC has empowered thousands of young women in East Africa by providing them with relevant educational and training opportunities tailored to the needs of the communities within which they serve. The latest initiative, Code Queen, is transforming career trajectories, fostering innovation, and building a supportive and growing community of ‘women supporting women’ who are shaping the future of technology in Uganda and beyond.

With the Code Queen program, we’ve been resourceful, innovative and flexible whilst maintaining rigor and high quality. We’ve been working at a steady and sustainable pace over the years, iterating and improving with each cohort, with a focus on executing efficiently, to be now known as the leading women’s tech program in the country. ‘

The day-long celebration will feature:

  • Keynote Speeches from leading tech industry executives, Code Queen partners and alumni who have achieved groundbreaking success.

  • Panel Discussions on the future of women in tech and how to create more inclusive spaces in the industry.

  • Networking Opportunities to connect participants with mentors, employers, and peers.

  • Recognition Awards to honor outstanding alumni, mentors, and partners who have contributed significantly to the program’s success.
