With the help of talented woodwind, brass, string and percussion players, Arturo has put together a powerful army of instrumentalists to really make this project POP! This new album was just released on February 7, 2025 and for Arturo and his team, it’s not just about making the music but more so about embodying this art form. This is exactly what Arturo O’ Farrill and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra accomplished with this project by becoming one with the music. ‘Mundoagua- Celebrating Carla Bley’ explores all the different facets of life with all its complexities included.
The record starts off with a tune that will have the listener entering chill zone on “Mundoagua I Glacial”. There are numerous peaks & valleys musically on this composition as the audience will want to soak up every last note. “Mundoagua 1 Glacial” is quite a musical journey full of twists & turns and will make a big splash with the jazz community. I commend the standout sound & performance on “Mundoagua I Glacial” and appreciate the fine-tuned instrumentation on full display. Next, “Mundoagua II Mundoagua” will have you saying Ready…Set…GO! Arturo and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra are off to the races with “Mundoagua II Mundoagua” as colorful & flavorful textures penetrate your eardrums. Track three, “Mundoagua III The Politics of Water”, is high-spirited and steadily moving along as Arturo & company are taking you on an adventurous ride. Brace yourself for an infectious rhythm and solid beat on “Blue Palestine Part One” as the catchy melody will keep you engaged & entertained. We head into “Blue Palestine Part Two” now where a distinct tone & style makes for a fun listening experience overall. On “Blue Palestine Part Three”, a mysterious vibe will surround you with its enchanting delivery. “Blue Palestine Part Four” is action-packed, so buckle up and enjoy the ride that is bursting with excitement. On track eight, “Dia De Los Muertos I Flowery Death”, Arturo and the Orchestra are playing at a high level and with a lot of energy as the audience can truly feel this. Prepare to take in fruitful and exotic dance being played out all in the key of “Dia De Los Muertos II La Bruja”. The environment is simply electric by the end with “Dia De Los Muertos III Mambo Cadaverous” as Arturo and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra give a rousing finish.
