Eric Person presents his latest album titled: “Rhythm Edge”. The accomplished and talented musician recently announced that the dandy and proficient record will be released on October 1, 2024. “Rhythm Edge” almost sounds and feels like a musical powerhouse that not only travels far into the edge, but also reminds the listener of the importance of rhythm. Person showcases brilliant sensations of blues with classic jazz, soul, and modern swing, yet stays fresh and generates a soundscape of contemporary jazz. “Rhythm Edge” manages to stay psychedelic, prepossessing, original, and proves to create a positively complex world of its own.
“Rhythm Edge” is a living reflection of what Eric Person is capable of and what he brings to the edge. “Rhythm Edge” is a record where Person leads the gifted band, and both come together to deliver a creative and outstanding project. Eric Person stands out as a composer, arranger, and multi-talented saxophonist, as some of his most heartfelt and dynamic performances are brought out to light on his latest album. Joining Person on this record are well known musicians such as: Ingrid Jensen on trumpet, Robin Eubanks on trombone, and Daniel Sadownick on percussion. The rhythm section easily glides through different atmospheres and adds a feeling of beauty to each track.
The first track is called: “Tyner Town” and it’s almost as if Dave Brubreck and Miles Davis created a newborn jazz baby. It captures the essence of what jazz should represent nowadays.
“The Multitudes” begins with an alluring piano introduction and is dedicated to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The bluesy tune “Majestic Tauran Majesty” features the great Adam Armstrong. With tracks like “I’ll Be Just Fine” “Beauty” “Supersonic” and “Pendulum Swing” Eric Person establishes himself as one of the finest musicians in the jazz scene. “Rhythm Edge” is around the corner and it guarantees to be a promising and mind-bending album for all jazz enthusiasts.
