Club music has evolved in so many ways over the past 50 years. From the highlight of disco in the late 70’s, freestyle of the 80’s to the rave parties of today. One type of dance music that is still surviving and thriving is house music. It rose from the ashes of disco in underground clubs of Chicago then eventually into mainstream in the late 80’s. Artists like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Jesse Saunders, Chip E., Steve “Silk” Hurley, Farley “Jackmaster” Funk, Marshall Jefferson, Phuture, and others were the founders of the art.
“House music” is one of the music genres that has influenced the artist, ARKETEK.
ARKETEK aka Konstantinos loves house music, and it’s has shaped him for what he has become today. His father was also a major influence on him as he always invited him to listen to records together. From a young age ARKETEK, was introduced to the sounds of classic rock, disco, dance music and Greek pop. As he explored the house music genre Artists like Carl Cox, Mahmut Orhan and Paul Kalkbrenner were a big influence on him.
Around this time is when he became interested in DJing and learning the craft.
“I always loved music so when I got into DJing it just felt right.
But when I finally got into the studio and started creating music, that’s when I truly felt my journey really began. I saw a blank canvas with unlimited possibilities, and I really fell in love with the freedom of being able to remix my favorite songs and produce my own original tracks.”
While studying Architectural Engineering, in college the 22-year-old came up with the stage name, ARKETEK. It just seemed suited for him since he “built” and produced tech house, techno music and house music records. He began to navigate the techno / house scene creating music and contacts in the industry. ARKETEK, would eventually link up with producer / remixer Dimitri Tee from New York and collaborate in a virtual studio session with DJ Georgie Porgie from Chicago. ARKETEK aka Kostantinos, being of Greek origin would know firsthand about how house & techno music has generated interest with his own. From cafés in Athens to beach bars in Mykonos, that genre of music has exploded. Greeks in general love to party and have embraced not only their native music but techno / house music is just as important.
Currently, he is gearing up to debut his remix release under Robotika Music this fall. The remix is of an older vocal house track from twenty-five years. ARKETEK, but his own spin on it and made it into a melodic techno record. It is due to be a floor banger around the globe. He believes techno / house has grown exponentially mostly due to advancements in technology and the global emergence of music festivals. To the benefit of ARKETEK and his style, techno and house music is now considered more mainstream worldwide.
