Time don’t wait! Now is the time to get familiar with Ricko’s work. A featured dancer among the likes of Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Justin Timberlake, and Jennifer Lopez to name but a few on his star-studded resume, Ricko has been quietly busy perfecting his musical sound as a singer, musician, producer, and visionary. Ricko has been at the heart of pop music’s biggest moments. Now the artist is going solo with his EP – “Frequency” – released 08/07/24 exclusively on his site https://rickobaird.com.
The EP’s two lead singles “Time Don’t Wait” and “I’m Lit” are perfect jumping on points for those looking to get into the Ricko spirit and his frequency of artistic freedom and diversity. Opening the album, “Time Don’t Wait” is a clear club banger. Pounding, rhythmic drums which make this the ideal track for anyone wanting to just let loose on the dance floor and in life itself. Ricko’s layered vocals provide the hooks you can see party-goers shouting across all the summer events.
Frequency’s second single “I’m Lit”, shows a different side to Ricko. Armed with his six-string, Ricko brings a modern twist to retro 70s stylings. Incorporating funk elements that James Brown would be proud of, Ricko lays himself bear with unbelievable soul stylings. The stunning music video for I’m Lit shows the artist on top form with his live band, electric energy, powerful soul vibes, and authentic creativity.
The EP “Frequency” is a diverse mix that brings together genres from every corner of the musical landscape. Primarily a mixture of soul, rock, pop, hip-hop and R&B with a healthy dose of uplifting dance anthems to get your heart pumping. Frequency is designed to curate healing energies for the body mind and soul. In mixing sonic colours, and frequencies, Ricko and co-songwriter/brother Steve Baird have put together a project that will make audiences simply feel better just for listening to it.
Frequency is the latest project from Ricko who made a name for himself as a dancer alongside some of the industry’s biggest stars. Ricko was even requested personally by Michael Jackson to dance next to him whilst on stage on his “Michael Jackson & Friends” tour. He would go on to star in the West End musical Thriller Live as the leading role as Michael Jackson. Ricko toured with “Michael Jackson and friends” in the live shows and he can also be seen as one of the principal dancers in the iconic “You Rock My World” music video. On set, In between takes, Ricko shared many classic funny moments with comedian Chris Tucker, Marlon Brando, and Michael Jackson. “We all laughed at Chris Tucker’s enthusiasm to re-create the iconic thriller dance sequence within you rock my world video”.
“When I first stepped on the stage with Michael Jackson and sensed his immense creative energy force, it was surreal and a moment I would never forget. He was a huge pure spirit with the heart of a child but extremely disciplined in achieving his own vision. Even to this day it’s still incredible to me that I was once a part of his world. I was nine years old when my mother took me to see Michael Jackson in concert, which greatly inspired me. To work with Michael Jackson later on in my life is simply amazing and now looking back it feels like a dream.”
