@skopemag Review – Bongo Boy TV – No. 7 Season 13 – Crazy Direction

A noir flavor defines Athxna’s bluesy trip-hop of “Crazy.” Vocals have this eerie atmosphere, with the sample virtually ready to completely break down. The inclusion of found sonic artifacts adds to the disorientation of the work.

Sydney’s Guard embraces a pure party celebration with the agility of a “Sense of Direction.” From the echoed vocals to the endless array of percussion, the footwork that presents itself gives the song a lively, heart-racing style. Even the horns repeated in this hypnotic way add to the spirit of togetherness.

“Keep a Smile” has OnnaDi embrace a surrealist R&B stream of consciousness. Her voice is transformed into this ethereal device. Lyrics have a poetry, as they cascade with an undeniable feeling of pure love.

Mysticism rolls through the happiness of Lissa Coffey and David Vito Gregoli’s “Krishna Govinda.” Aspects of the work have an updated mixture of psychedelic and Eastern influences, blending both together tastefully. Melodies add to the feeling of appreciation.

A tremendous southern blues mixed with sweetness defines Miss Lady Blues’ “Good Woman.” Keyboards glow fluorescently. Her voice has so much power behind it, with the bass gliding through effortlessly.

Raw, rough garage rock bursts forth on the driving grooves of Barry Keenan’s “The North Country.” The song has a rural psychedelic wildness, with the verses exploring the more feral impulses of life. He lets the animalistic impulse filter into the lyrics with perfection.

Mercy Alu brings things to a fantastic conclusion on the good-spirited “African Queen.” Lots of layers give the song a sense of place. Even the little melody nicely dovetails with the hyperactive beats.
