Queer and Trans Singer/song-writer Anjimile announces his debut album Giver Taker to be released via Father/Daughter Records on September 18, 2020. Today, he drops the single “Maker” to commemorate the upcoming LP.
Anjimile (Pronouns: he/him, they/them) explores self-reflection through this gentle and soft song. The lone guitar highlights Anjimile’s silky vocals to create an earthy, organic sound. Though it starts light on instrumentation, “Maker” weighs heavy with its soul-searching lyrics. He addresses himself as not just a boy, but a man, a god and a maker, painting a path of Anjimile’s journey through loss and personal growth. Like lavender for the soul, the tune is soothing in its honest presentation. “Maker” starts off soft but builds up into something more, playing into Anjimile’s own journey as he asks the simple question, “Have you ever seen anything quite like this?”
