London singer / producer Sakima has shared his new video for “Pity Party” off his upcoming mixtape, Project Peach, out Friday, August 16th. The video premiered today via Highsnobiety and pairs Sakima’s ethereal voice and production with mesmerizing visuals. On the track, Sakima explains, “Pity Party explores the different dimensions of the straight male ego. I think it’s a common experience among queer people that their interactions with straight men stretch from romantic all the way to bigoted, but there’s mostly always a sense of separation perhaps from insecurities from both sides. It’s hard to explain those experiences without painting with too broad a brush, but within music people can automatically understand the emotional nonlinearity a lot easier.”
Project Peach is out next Friday and is composed of Sakima’s personal favorite songs over the past few years. In his words, “It’s really an essay on my experiences as a queer person, as well as just a human being over the last few years and what those highs and lows translate to in music.”
