Kylie Odetta Releases New Single “Flame” Video

This song is Kylie’s heart for the world… her heart for you, written in lyrics and performed by a gospel choir, saxophone, drums, and piano. It’s got soul and spirit and is filled with a light that this world so desperately needs. Kylie’s voice soothes and challenges as the song builds to a final crescendo that will leave you feeling uplifted.

The music video follows the story of a 38 year-old former drug addict named Reggie. His story is a story of hope and we want to share it with the world. Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, Harriet Tubman… these people are featured on the cover art for the song and were torch carriers, fire starters, persons who individually started off as ONE flicker and spread the light of their messages ALL OVER THE WORLD. Kylie believes that there is power and fanning the flame inside of us.

More on WHY Kylie wrote this song: “I wrote this song when I was sitting at my piano one day, crushed by the weight of the world and all of the people in it who are hurting – for many valid reasons. This world can be a dark and heavy place… But as I was sitting there, a voice popped into my head reminding me that it only takes one flicker of light to cut through the darkness. If you’re in a pitch black room and you light a match, it will cut through the dark and be seen. Every. Single. Time. We have the ability to be that light. There is still hope. There is still love. This song is my heart for the world… my heart for you, written in lyrics and performed by a gospel choir, saxophone, drums, piano. I hope you’ll listen to it loud as can be on your drive home at night or gently in your headphones when you wake up tomorrow morning. I hope you feel ignited by the fire inside you when you listen. Thank you.”
