Premiering their new single, “Riverborn”, Washington state’s Wickerbird have captured the sound of the Cascadian Pacific Northwest’s gentler side. “Riverborn” is the type of hymn one imagines right from the title and first chord alone. It’s a a soft descent into an echo-y world of acoustic guitar tapestries, over top of the sounds of nature. Imagine if the music played during a massage or hot yoga wasn’t software-driven drivel, but actually relaxing, and you’re halfway into the music of Wickerbird. “Riverborn” is cinematic without being cliche or hokey, and lands comfortably in the world that Bon Iver trail blazed.
