From beginning to end this CD is full of hit singles. I quickly became a die hard, life long fan of these guys. I hate to sound cliché but this band rocks. The vocalist sings with a mix of French and the English language; I don’t speak French, but the songs sang in that language, to be honest, I do not care if I can understand them or not. The musicianship is enough to keep you engaged.
They also have a softer side and the lead singer has a unique vocal style all of his own. It is distinctive, but a comfortable familiarity that works very nicely. The song, Derniere Cigarettes is my personal favorite. There is not a word of English, but I don’t care the emotion behind what is being said is executed with deep veracity. It feels dark, but profoundly liberating.
Drunksouls’ latest release, Just Before Chaos is a work of art. A brilliantly well crafted CD that is edgy, soft and incomparable to anything I have ever heard. I highly recommend you to add this one to your CD collection. For me, this is one of those CD’s that I would hope was present if I was ever stuck on a deserted island. It never gets old and the more you listen the more greatness is revealed.
I rate this 5 out of 5
