Having garnered critical nods for his haunting R&B-inspired baritone and a series of conceptual videos from acclaimed director Floria Sigismondi (behind works for David Bowie, Justin Timberlake, The White Stripes and Sigur Ros), LA-based musician Lawrence Rothman is preparing for his first North American tour this February. Far beyond the bounds of a traditional concert to showcase his singular sound, which matches his deep vocals with production influenced by 90’s house and film scores, each show on this string of dates has been crafted as a standalone performance piece. Much like in his videos, Lawrence will fully embody a new character for each date, which will fully manifest itself and dictate the entirety of his stage presence. To fully grasp the artistic range of his shape shifting, watch Lawrence as an Elizabeth Taylor-esque figure spiraling down a tragic love triangle at the Chateau Marmont in “Montauk Fling”, a concussed bystander to contemporary negligence in “#1 All Time Low”, and, most recently, a hellish four-faced incarnation of celebrity in “Fatal Atraction” (links below). The tour kicks off on February 18th in Portland, Oregon, with support from nomadic Canadian composer and visual artist Mas Ysa.
