The Standards, Gloria Estefan’s new album debuted at #1 in tunes. Commemorating the great American Songbook tunes, The Standards seek to reach Estefan fans worldwide, through internationally renowned classics, sung in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French, with some renovated lyrics, written by her. This album is also notable for its collaborations with award-winning, world famous artists such as singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, violinist Joshua Bell and saxophonist Dave Koz.
“This album completes the circle for me!” she says, and notes that she chose all the songs “with my heart and what I feel.” Estefan brought a list of 50 classics to Berg that “touched me personally and made me cry.” She recorded 16 songs live in the studio with a steady team of very talented musicians, all masters of the genre and accompanied by a 48 piece orchestra.
