BEP’S “I GOTTA FEELING” HITS SIX-MILLION DOWNLOADS

According to The Associated Press, the Black Eyed Peas’ former number one hit “I Gotta Feeling” has become the first song to reach six-million digital downloads.   The milestone was announced Friday and confirmed by Nielsen SoundScan figures.   The song was the second single released off the Peas’ The E.N.D. album and held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 14 weeks last summer.  

GET REMIXED WITH GAGA

Lady Gaga is releasing a brand new album tomorrow — sort of.   A ten-track remix collection of Gaga’s hits, aptly title The Remix, will hit stores.   It features reworked versions of some of the pop star’s biggest songs, including “Just Dance,” “Bad Romance,” “Alejandro” and more.   Pick yours up tomorrow.

HEAR MIKE POSNER’S ALBUM NOW

Mike Posner’s new album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, isn’t out until a week from tomorrow, but you can hear the effort in its entirety right now online.   The “Cooler Than Me” singer is streaming the album now on his MySpace page until it’s released on August 10th.   Take a listen at MySpace.com/MikePosner.

NEW BOYZ READY SOPHOMORE ALBUM

UrbanBridgez.com has learned New Boyz are scheduled to release their sophomore album, tentatively titled Too Cool to Care. The kids who introduced the world to “jerking” have already shot the video for the lead single, “Break My Bank.”   The clip is slated to debut later this month, while the forthcoming disc lands on September 21st!

MADONNA IS HARD AT WORK

MADONNA PREPS MATERIAL GIRL CLOTHING LINE

As we have previously reported, Madonna has teamed up with her daughter Lourdes to create a new clothing line called Material Girl.   The junior collection will be exclusively available at Macy’s just in time for back-to-school shopping.   Macy’s in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Glendale and Costa Mesa, California will selections of the brand new Material Girl collection on August 3rd.   Check your local listings.

WHO COMPARES THE SCRIPT AND U2

Are The Script and U2 comparable?   Guitarist Mark Sheehan told the Yorkshire Evening Post that it’s “humbling” when his band gets put in the same category as U2, but that he doesn’t know “how anybody can say that.”   He insists that it must only be because they’re both “Irish and carry instruments.”   In other news regarding The Script, their sophomore album, Science & Faith, will be released in Europe this September.   No word on when it will be out in America.

KATY PERRY TALKS STRICT PARENTS

Katy Perry admits that her parents were pretty strict growing up, but that it was for a good reason.   The “California Gurls” singer told Q magazine that it was all because they didn’t want her to “turn out like a prostitute.”   Apparently they did a pretty good job because Katy is set to become a one-man woman in the near future.   She and fiancé Russell Brand will tie the knot later this year.

NEON TREES STRIPPED DOWN

Rolling Stone has chosen Neon Trees as their Artist of the Week. Fans who head to RollingStone.com can see an acoustic set from the band and learn more about the Utah group. Neon Trees are on the road touring their Habits album and play Albuquerque, New Mexico tonight.

KID CUDI’S NEW ALBUM GETS PUSHED BACK

According to BallerStatus.com, the release of Kid Cudi’s sophomore album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, will be pushed back two weeks.   The album was set to hit stores on September 14th and will now arrive on the 28th.

NEW LINKIN PARK SINGLE OUT NOW

SOLANGE TAKES THE STAGE WITH OF MONTREAL

Solange has been busy working on her new album, but the singer resurfaced with indie rock band Of Montreal to sing “Sex Karma” on Thursday’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The artsy band was dressed as mimes for the performance.

TIMBERLAKE’S CLOTHING LINE IN TARGET!

William Rast, the clothing line by Justin Timberlake and his childhood friend Trace Ayala, will make its way to Target.   According to Yahoo!, Target announced that the collection will arrive in December and will be available for one month.

TAYLOR SWIFT’S COVER ART FOR NEW SINGLE REVEALED

Taylor Swift has revealed the cover art for her first single, “Mine,” off of her highly anticipated third album, Speak Now. In the artwork, Taylor is in a forest surrounded by flowers, and poses in a white sundress as she looks over her shoulder. The cover also reveals lyrics including, “You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter…You are the best thing that’s ever been mine.” Radio station KILT in Houston, Texas was able to hear the single, and folks there describe the track as, “An uptempo song that’s unmistakably Taylor. It’s a boy/girl song, sort of like ‘Love Story,’ but a much more realistic look at a relationship.” Until the release of “Mine,” Taylor can celebrate her recent award from PopStar Magazine for Favorite Female Singer.
