JUSTIN BIEBER ON OPRAH

Justin Bieber made his first appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show earlier this week.   The 16-year-old performed his song “Baby” and sat down with Oprah for an interview.   Bieber admitted that he doesn’t understand why girls scream and pass out in his presence.   Later, Oprah asked Bieber if he ever gets punished by his mother and the singer admitted when he does something wrong his mother will take away his phone for a few days.   Bieber also took time to take three fans out on the town for ice cream and let them watch him rehearse for his Oprah performance.  

EMINEM AND GODSMACK TOP ITUNES CHART

Eminem’s new single “Not Afraid” debuts at the top of the iTunes download chart, pushing last week’s number one, Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am, to number two.   3Oh!3’s “My First Kiss” featuring Ke$ha is at number three,   B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Paramore’s Hayley Williams drops to number four, while Glee’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” featuring Jonathan Groff rounds out the top five.   Hard rock dominates the iTunes album chart this week as Godsmack’s The Oracle bows at number one, and The Deftones’ Diamond Eyes comes in at number two.   Last week’s number one, B.o.B.’s The Adventures of Bobby Ray, falls to number three, Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster comes in at number four and Glee: The Music, Vol 3 — Showstoppers rounds out the top five.  

EMINEM TO DEBUT AT NUMBER ONE

Eminem’s new single, “Not Afraid,” will be only the 16th song in 52 years to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.   The song was released digitally on May 3rd and sold over 380-thousand copies in its first week.   That marks the biggest sales week for a digital track this calendar year, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   “Not Afraid” is the lead single from Eminem’s new album, Recovery, which is set to hit stores on June 22nd.

GAGA COLLECTS HER ECHO AWARDS

Lady Gaga won a slew of Echo Awards in Germany back in March, but wasn’t able to attend the ceremony.   Well Tuesday night in Berlin, the pop star finally got her chance to accept her trophies while stopping in the city on her Monster Ball tour.   Gaga won Echo’s for Best International Female Artist, Best Single Of The Year for her hit song “Poker Face,” and Best International Newcomer.

SIXTH GRADER DOES GAGA

A sixth grader named Greyson Michael Chance sang a rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” while playing the piano at a talent show, and the video is taking the Internet by storm.   It’s gotten more than one-million hits on YouTube in just one day, and there’s no doubt that the pop star herself would be proud.   Check it out on YouTube now.

“CALIFORNIA GURLS” IS A HIT

Katy Perry’s latest single, “California Gurls,” just came out, and it’s already a hit.   The pop star posted a link on her Twitter showing that the tune, which features Snoop Dogg, is the number one song in the country on iTunes.   It’s off of her forthcoming album, Teenage Dream, which is due out on August 24th.

THE FRAY HELP OUT CONAN

The people who came out to see Conan O’Brien perform in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday night got more than just a night of comedy.   That’s because rockers Isaac Slade and Joe King of The Fray, who also happen to be natives of the Mile High City, came out to play two of their hits, “You Found Me” and “Over My Head (Cable Car).”   And to show support for the former Tonight Show host, Slade wore a Conan T-shirt.   See video of it all now on YouTube.

A KYLIE MUSICAL ON BROADWAY?

Could Kylie Minogue be coming to Broadway?   According to WhatsOnStage.com, there are rumors circulating about possibly making a musical based on the songs of the Aussie pop star, not unlike Mamma Mia.   The website reports that Kylie said she wouldn’t be opposed to the idea because it’s not her life story, rather “it’s about the interpretation” of her music.

KATY, TAYLOR AND CARRIE ARE SEXY

The folks at Maxim magazine, who just put Katy Perry atop their Hot 100 list, aren’t the only people that think the singer is attractive.   Victoria’s Secret just released their What’s Sexy list for 2010, and the pop star is named Sexiest Songstress.   Also making the list is Taylor Swift for Sexiest Hair and Carrie Underwood for Sexiest Legs.   Learn more at VSAllAccess.com.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’S GOLF COURSE

Justin Timberlake is going to be spending a lot of time hitting the links this summer.   That’s because the pop star’s new golf course in Memphis, Tennessee will be open for business come July.   According to ContactMusic.com, Timberlake said it means a lot to him because not only was it the place that he first learned the game from his dad, but also because it’s the first certified eco-friendly golf course in all of America.

COLBIE CAILLAT HELPS TO SAVE THE MUSIC

CHRIS BROWN AND TYGA READY JOINT MIXTAPE!

According to Rap-Up.com, Chris Brown and Tyga have released the official artwork for their new mixtape. The project is called Fan of a Fan and it’s slated to arrive on May 17th. Fans can reportedly expect Breezy to not only sing on the tape but also rap on several songs, including the first single, “Holla At Me.”

BOW WOW’S NEW SINGLE WITH FABOLOUS LEAKS

Bow Wow’s new single, “Cuff Your Chick” featuring Fabolous, surfaced and he is upset about it! The rapper took to his Twitter account and wrote: “My f***ing first single leaked!! I’m f***ing heated!   I’m pissed!!” Bow is currently working on a double disc effort which will be his first with new label home Cash Money. BRUNO MARS RELEASES HIS NEW EP

Bruno Mars has released a five-track EP called It’s Better If You Don’t Understand. The man who sang the hook for B.o.B’s “Nothin On You” and Travis McCoy’s “Billionaire” single has stepped out on his own and hopes everyone loves his project. The Hawaiian singer said in statement, “I just write songs that I strongly believe in and that are coming from inside.   There’s no tricks.   It’s honesty with big melodies.   And I’m singing the s**t out of them.” You can download It’s Better If You Don’t Understand on iTunes and be on the look out for Bruno’s debut album, due out later this year.

COREY TAYLOR ASKS FOR HELP FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

Stone Sour and Slipknot singer Corey Taylor recently recorded a video message for the Gibson Foundation, asking for assistance for Nashville flood relief. All donations collected by Gibson will go to the victims of the floods, which badly affected Music City this month. Taylor is in Nashville at the moment putting the finishing touches on the new Stone Sour album, titled Audio Secrecy.

M.I.A TAKES SHOTS AT BIEBER

M.I.A is taking some shots at pop superstar Justin Bieber. The “Born Free” rapper told NME that Bieber is more offensive than anything she’s ever done, including her new video where a young child gets shot in the head. Ouch!
