After making a dramatic exit on Twitter, Chris Brown has decided to rejoin the social networking site. It’s unknown why the “I Can Transform Ya” star had a change of heart, but he is no longer listed under “Mechanical Dummy.” Instead, fans can follow him under his God given name: @ChrisBrown.
GAGA’S “TELEPHONE” VIDEO IS A HIT
Lady Gaga’s video for “Telephone” featuring Beyonce made quite the splash on the Internet after it was released on Thursday night. According to NME.com, the clip managed to get over one-million views online in a little over 12 hours of being released. MICHAEL JACKSON FURNITURE AUCTION
According to the Associated Press, 22 pieces of custom-made furniture that Michael Jackson commissioned for his London home are going on the auction block. Some of the outrageous offerings include a red velvet sofa that seats nine, a leopard-print chair trimmed with ostrich feathers and a pair of velvet armchairs embroidered with gold eagles. Jackson intended to use the furnishings at the London home he planned to stay at during his This Is It comeback concert run. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two charities: MusiCares, which provides health care and other services for struggling musicians, and Joshua’s Heart, which aims to end world hunger.
NATALIE MEJIA CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION
Natalie Mejia of the pop group Girlicious has been officially charged with drug possession with the intent to sell after police allegedly found a dozen plastic bags of cocaine in her Gucci purse in Glendale, California. Prosecutors say the 21-year-old along with 28-year-old Peter Asencio were charged Thursday in Glendale Superior Court. Asencio is accused of speeding when he and Mejia were pulled over and arrested Tuesday night. Police say Mejia said the drugs were not hers and claimed she didn’t know how they got into her purse. Arraignment was continued to April 15th.
JESSE McCARTNEY WORKING WITH SEAN GARRETT
Jesse McCartney has been logging studio time with producer-songwriter Sean Garrett, who he previously worked with on 2008’s Departure, which includes the hit single “How Do You Sleep?” Garrett told Rap-Up.com that he’s working on three songs with Jesse and they’ve “got some really, really good s**t already.” McCartney’s fourth album is due later this year.
HANNAH MONATANA CELEBRATES MILITARY FAMILIES
Hannah Montana celebrated military families in an episode that taped Friday before a studio audience filled with families of members of the armed services. The young guests at the taping, many of whom have deployed parents, were invited to appear in the episode and send videotaped greetings to their parents. The episode features “Hannah Montana,” played by Miley Cyrus, performing two new songs including “Been Here All Along,” a heartfelt ballad with her father “Robby Ray,” played by Billy Ray Cyrus. The Bob Hope USO consulted on the storyline. The episode will air this August.
JAY-Z TALKS LIL WAYNE MSG APPEARANCE
According to MTV News, Jay-Z was glad Lil Wayne got to perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden before serving a year in prison for weapons possession. Hova told MTV, “It was fantastic. Again, any time you play the Garden is a special moment. Wayne, how that worked out, he was supposed to go away for a year. Somehow he was able to perform that last show. He came out to an incredible reaction. Then Drake, Nicki Minaj – all on Jeezy’s set, which was fantastic. Then Trey Songz and Fabulous. It’s one of those magical nights at the Garden. Once again, one of those magical nights.”
LUDACRIS ALBUM PREDICTIONS
According to HitsDailyDouble.com, Ludacris’ latest album, Battle Of The Sexes, is estimated to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. The disc is on pace to sell around 120-thousand copies during its first week. If the predictions are correct, it will mark Luda’s fourth studio effort to claim the number one spot. Interestingly enough, the rapper’s previous project, Theater Of The Mind, came in at number five with 214-thousand sold.
KELLY CLARKSON WANTS TEN KIDS
We reported last week that Kelly Clarkson had been at an orphanage in South Africa and that she found the experience “amazing.” Well it seems that it really had a profound effect on the original American Idol, because she wrote on her Twitter a message for her “future husband,” saying that he had better be ready to have “10 kids!” No word on if Kelly had found this “future husband” yet, but maybe she will when she performs in Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday.
LIFEHOUSE NARROWS DOWN SINGLE CHOICES
Lifehouse asked their fans on Twitter if they would give the band some ideas as to what their second single off of Smoke & Mirrors should be, and the guys seem to have narrowed it down to three possibilities. Billy Corgan is famous for his opinions and his latest is on John Mayer. He told Rolling Stone that he thinks Mayer is “trying to destroy his career.” Corgan goes onto to say, “It’s hard to watch someone literally burn their career to the ground- speaking as somebody who’s done it.” Billy also responded to Mayer’s dig at Jessica Simpson when calling her “sexual napalm,” to which Corgan said, “There’s things you should really just keep your mouths shut on.”
AMY LEE TALKS NEW EVANESCENCE ALBUM
Amy Lee recently sat down with Spin and chatted about the upcoming Evanescence album, which is due out in September. The singer says the first song they wrote for the album is titled “Hi Lo” and she describes it as “electro-pop” with no organic instruments. ABBIE CORNISH TALKS MADONNA
Madonna is set to write and direct a movie titled W.E., and the pop star has gotten actress Abbie Cornish to sign on to play a leading role. Cornish was recently asked about the gig by British paper the Daily Mail, and she had some pretty nice things to say about Madonna. The 27-year-old revealed that she admires Madge because she’s a “strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a man to define her.” No word yet on when we can expect W.E. in theaters.
MADONNA ON THE MARRIAGE REF
Madonna was on Thursday night’s episode of The Marriage Ref on NBC, and she had some interesting advice for couples that came on the show looking for help. The Associated Press reports that the pop star said that withholding sex from a spouse if they won’t clean up is not alright, and she also said that one of the women on the show should dispose of her previous husband’s prosthetic leg, which she was holding onto for sentimental reasons — yes, that scenario really came up! LIL WAYNE UNABLE AUTOGRAPH IN PRISON
TMZ has learned Lil Wayne is not permitted to give out his autograph while serving his one year sentence at Rikers Island prison. The Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association explained, “Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.” In addition, Weezy has not requested nor will he receive any preferential treatment during his stay. If he keeps out of trouble while incarcerated, the rap star might be released within eight months on good behavior.
SLASH DIDN’T PLAY “BLACK OR WHITE” HOOK
Many people think Slash played the hook to Michael Jackson’s tune “Black or White,” but not only did the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist not perform it, he didn’t even like it. Spinner.com reports that during his interview keynote at Canadian Music Week, Slash stated, “I never played on [‘Black or White’]. If you listen to [the hook], that’s gay. I’d never play that.” The rocker went on to explain he did perform on the song “Give In To Me,” also off the Dangerous album, and he played in the “Black and White” video when Macaulay Culkin is rocking out.
