Recently named one of Spin Magazine’s “8 Undiscovered Bands Worth a Listen,” Golden Bloom plans the national release of the upcoming full-length album , Fan the Flames, on August 18th, 2009.
An instrumental chameleon, front man Shawn Fogel is as comfortable on piano, bass guitar and tenor sax as on keyboard, harmonica, and drums. He demonstrates his talents by playing all the instruments on Fan the Flames while playing live with a full-lineup which includes author and journalist Michael Azerrad (Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana, Our Band Could Be Your Life) on drums.
“Shawn can play any instrument as well as anyone else in the band, which tends to keep the rest of the band at the top of our game,” says Azerrad.“And his songs are so good because they come straight from his good-natured heart — maybe that’s also why they’re such a joy to play.”
