JESSE McCARTNEY HONORED WITH THE ‘SONG OF THE YEAR’ AWARD

Multi-platinum recording artist Jesse McCartney and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder were honored tonight with the Song of the Year Award at the 26th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Award as songwriters of Leona Lewis’ 2008 hit, “Bleeding Love.” The powerhouse ballad was hand-picked by music industry veterans Clive Davis and Simon Cowell as a single for Lewis, becoming a # 1 song in both the US and worldwide. In addition to receiving the honor, McCartney performed his #1 hit “Leavin'” – from his album Departure – which spent 5 weeks at #1 on the CHR Top 40 Chart and had over 2 million digital downloads on iTunes. The ASCAP Awards honor the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed pop songs of 2008.
