QUOTED: KID CUDI TALKED HIS WAY INTO A RECORD DEAL

It’s always a pretty big deal when an artist gets his first big break. There are many ways to get discovered. In Kid Cudi’s case, he was lucky enough to bump into Kanye West.

“I met Kanye like any other person as a fan, oh at Virgin Music store, I was looking at CDs that I couldn’t buy (laughs). He was standing right next to me looking at CDs and I remember just going ‘how you doing?   My name is Cudi’ well actually I said my name was Scott because I wasn’t Kid Cudi yet, ‘I’m Scott man, I’m from Cleveland, Ohio.’ And I remember him being like ‘Ay man I’m a call you right back.’ Like getting off his phone and I was just like ‘I really wanna be signed, can you sign me’ like I had no pitch! ‘Can you just sign me?’”

And what did ‘Ye have to say to that?

“And he was like ‘Man, I got a lot so many artists right now that I’m tryna deal with right now and unless you on some Tupac or Biggie type stuff’ and I was like ‘Nah, nah I’m not that good but I have the potential for greatness.’”

Kid Cudi is currently signed with Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music label and Universal Motown. Cudi is still working on his debut album, Man on the Moon: The Guardians, which will feature his hit single, “Day ‘N’ Nite.”

My names alan and I’m 18, I’ve been thinking about trying to get into the rap game since I was 14 but I never knew how to go about and it was always just a thought.but now I’m trying to make it.I’m 18 living on my own. I doubt anyone will ever see this but as long as I get my word out I guess that’s all that counts. If cudi were to ever see this I’d like to tell him that someone does understand.maybe not all of him but part. The reason I wanna make it into the game would be to show who I am and show everyone who ever said I’d be a failure that theyre wrong.I don’t understand why I’m on this earth but I do know that I can do it and if there was ever a chance for me to get in the game.ill take it.if I were to have a mentor who has been in the game and guided I know I could be the best out there.

If that’s the case I should really be signed because I got lyricd for days and hit bt can’t get no exposure or someone to stand behind me and pick me. I even was on nicki minaj mixtape hosted by dj young cee from shadyville on datpiff.com name of my song is called ice game track 14 u must hear it its bannas. Its called get ya tapes ready 30. I even performed with freeway but living in the dead chicago area no one comes true and actually take the time to check out the artist from here. Its like u got be from atlanta with a southern vibe now n days to get signed its like they dnt know real talent anymore all they know is dance music n that’s the stuff that’s not hot n dnt last long then labels wondwr why rhey got one hit wonders cuz theey sign bull crap and won’t sign the guy who has the talent juss because he not from the south.
