toubab.jpgBillboard calls Toubab Krewe’s blend of African rhythms with rock “distinctive, remarkable fusion,” and festival audiences from Bonnaroo to Mali have danced to their music. Now the frenzy of their live show has been captured on ‘Live at the Orange Peel’, out from Upstream Records/ADA January 6th, with a tour beginning 12/30.

The Appalachian mountains may not seem a likely source of African-rooted music, but “funky, hard hitting” (Global Rhythm) Toubab Krewe, of Asheville, North Carolina, blends West African rhythms with rock, creating a sound all its own and earning a devoted following at performances from Bonnaroo to the legendary Festival of the Desert in Essakane, Mali.
