Justin Martin – Chaos Restored

jmartin_chaos.jpgBorn in West Hartford, Conn. but transplanted to San Francisco, Calif., Justin Martin exploded onto the house/techno scene in 2003 after being noticed by film producer/DJ Barclay Crenshaw- A.K.A. Claude VonStroke- with his single “The Sad Piano”. Martin has since been a frequent contributor to Buzzin’ Fly Records and recently a cofounder of dirtybird records along with Barclay.

After four years of remixing, DJing and contributing, 2007 became the year for Martin to step out on his own with his debut mix compilation. Chaos Restored with Justin Martin is a funky, hypnotic cocktail of Martin-created and Martin-inspired beats that pulsates with more than an hour of seamlessly transitioned tracks. Martin calls on his San Francisco colleagues including Worthy, Tanner Ross, and his brother Christian Martin while also reaching out to Europe-based producers Robag Wruhme, Martin Landsky, Jamie (Jimpster) Odell, and Audiofly for a collective input that is heard in a colorful singularity throughout the record. But it’s Martin’s self-produced tracks “Nightowl” and “Ghetto Train” that seem to capture the most attention on Chaos Restored showing Martin’s expert sampling ability and his flawless ear for genre meshing. A strong first showing from a promising new house artist to be sure.
