December 28, 2009

carmelo_phixr

I always say it but music is best performed by those that do it for the love rather than the money & fame. If the music is good, the money & fame will come. My next guest is the definition of doing it for the love. Coming out of lovely Visalia, California is Carmelo Rosado JR. Carmelo just put out a new album, ‘Un Homenaje Para Mi Mejor Amigo, Mi Padre’ (A Tribute to My Best Friend, My Father) after taking a 30 year break to pursue school and start a very succesful business venture. This new CD was written by the artist’s father Don Carmelo Rosado, Sr. with the exceptions of two songs, 11 and 12. Join me as I talk with Carmelo about managing business & music, his relationship with his father, what he has to prove with this album, and much more!

My next guest is a first for the “Skoped Out” column. After receiving the press kit and new album from Big Jeff, I was truly intrigued. Big Jeff got his start over 13 years ago playing songs for his daughters and children at the local New Jersey daycare center. The music was so well received that BIg Jeff quit his day job and never looked back. Now he has recently released his new album, ‘Warm For The Winter’ which he got John Seymour to engineer and record for him. The children’s music genre is bigger than I thought so I just had to get Big Jeff to tell us more!

Morning Fuzz is a Brooklyn, NY based melodic rock outfit exploiting the talent and showmanship garnered by Frank Fussa and Chris Johanidesz, both former members of Ultra High Frequency. I caught wind of this trio after giving a listen to their really impressive, ‘Morning Fuzz EP.’ I also must admit that there is something special about the lead singer, Frank Fussa. He just comes across as the perfect lead to the band. If you go to their Myspace page you can see that the ladies are catching on as well. Start off your week right by checking out a band from NY that deserves a listen.

By the time Kaci was 13 she already toured the world and had a few top 10 singles under her belt. Now she is of the drinking age and music is still her life-long passion. Join us as Kaci talks about where she is at now and where she plans to go.
