MEET THE MUSICIANS: SLANT
January 7, 2010
I am ashamed to admit that before sitting with Munir to do this interview, I actually had no idea why Slant was even called Slant. For an ace journalist, that’s pretty unacceptable. Promising to keep my embarrassing secret, Slant guitarist Munir explained it to me. “If you look up the definition, it’s to view something in a different way, in a different direction, in a different interpretation. So music is interpreted in millions of different ways. It’s basically our interpretation of music…kind of like our slant on things.”
MEET THE MUSICIANS: PALE
January 7, 2010
I could kick myself over and over again for declining invitations to see Pale in concert. When you live in Los Angeles, you get used to the over saturation of every kind of band, from your garden variety garage band to your headlining acts. All it took was the first note of the first song I heard to realize that Pale is not a band anyone should overlook.
MEET THE MUSICIANS: MOSTART
January 7, 2010
What I didn’t expect while interviewing MostArt was to have my own tape recorder turned against me. Unconventional to say the least, it would be the start of an interview unlike any other I’d ever done before; yet fitting considering the fact that MostArt is unlike any artist I’ve ever heard before. MostArt’s music is an amalgamation of different genres fused together to create a sound that is both entertaining and compelling. It’s a multidimensional representation of his hard work, dedication, and unique philosophy on life.
