Deep Throat Choir Share “Be Ok”

Bella Union are pleased to announce the release of Be OK, the debut album from Deep Throat Choir, on 17th February 2017. The album’s title track is streaming HERE.

Deep Throat Choir is an all-female singing collective formed in 2013 by Luisa Gerstein. Having played in the bands Landshapes and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, the project was driven by the simple desire to bring music making back to a few basic elements: just voices and drums. Not for the love of choirs per se, but for the love of raw female voices thrown together, of the interplay of intricate vocal melodies and harmonies; Luisa wanted to sing and arrange the music she loved, and to hear it stripped and bolstered in that specific way that lots of voices can do. A melody sung by one voice is so different to a melody sung by many, and the same goes for words; the sentiment is altogether transformed when carried by a collective as opposed to an individual. This is exemplified perfectly in the line “show me emotional respect” from the choir’s arrangement of Bjork’s Stonemilker. It is not just one woman’s plea, but an anthem for all.

Lio Nicol Places The “Blame” With New Release

Pop songwriter and performer, Lio Nicol released her first single, “Blame,” a moving pop anthem that elucidates what it is to realize it’s time to let go. The track finds the singer in her most vulnerable state as she details the confusion and pain felt during a one-sided breakup. “Blame” is now available on iTunes and Spotify.

Lio Nicol takes listeners through the emotions that are felt when a relationship goes south. The song opens with a catchy beat as Nicol sings brutally honest lyrics, “I don’t know where we went wrong, feeling my heart turning stone; you’re not the only one in pain, I’m not the only one to blame.” Nicol explains, “Overall, ‘Blame’ is about two people who never really were on the same page and it finally hits one of them, but not the other.” Lio Nicol purposely writes storytelling lyrics that are open to interpretation so her listeners can decide for themselves what the songs are about. “I don’t ever like to say too much about a song because I want people to feel exactly how they need to at the time of listening to it.” Produced by Wesley Switzer of Milestone Studios, “Blame” beautifully encompasses Lio Nicol’s incredible vocal ability and is the first single off of her debut EP, 1, due out in early 2017.

Tanille “Santa, Don’t Pass Me By”

R&B/Pop Artist Tanille Edwards is a multi-talented songstress who writes her own lyrics and produces the musical arrangements for her fresh new songs. Her soulful sound is uniquely reminiscent of those lyrically passionate, club groovin’ beats of the 80’s.

“I wrote “Santa Don’t Pass Me By” when I was missing my love at holiday times. Things got a little confused. He thought I meant one thing, and I meant something else. I started thinking about what would I do if I didn’t hear from him before Christmas. Knowing how much I missed him. Knowing how magical the season is. It would be my only Christmas wish for Santa to bring him back. Love is such big part of the holiday season. It is my favorite time of the year.” -xoxo Tanille

SIMPLE PLAN UNVEIL HEARTFELT NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “PERFECTLY PERFECT”

“Perfectly Perfect is about being in love with someone and seeing only beauty in every part of them. Even the parts they don’t like about themselves. People tend to focus too much on their so called flaws. Like when we picture ourselves, we always comment on the thing we hate or can’t stand about ourselves, when in reality, nobody really notices that stuff. Especially when you love the person. All the little “flaws” become things you that make you special and different. Most of us in the band are now married or in long term relationships and this song was definitely inspired by that. For me personally, the song really reminds me of my wife. I know she had plenty of things about herself that she doesn’t like. That she would like to change. But those are all the things that make her who she is and why I love her. We wrote the song with our good friend Tom Higgenson from the Plain White T’s and we really can’t wait for our fans to hear it played on the radio and see the video” – Pierre Bouvier (Simple Plan)

Dear Boy Share “Alluria” Video With Impose

Los Angeles-based band Dear Boy have shared their video for “Alluria” with Impose Magazine. The track is from the band’s sophomore EP Parts Of A Flower out now via Easy Hell. Dear Boy’s Ben Grey says, “We wanted the video to be a living rock photograph…Those 1960’s stills of rock & roll bands in their hotel rooms, where you fill in the blanks as to what they’re talking about. Those images really speak to you…you can taste their chemistry. About the song he adds, “I wanted to classify a really specific feeling. There’s a special brand of displacement that only love does to you and it’s not always the healthiest thing. The word/name Alluria was just haunting me for weeks and I didn’t know what it meant until we started writing it. ‘Alluria’ is basically a story about bad and sad. Human beings are attracted to extremes, in others and in themselves. It’s very easy to fall in love with someone or something that pulls you to those places.”
