THE SLIM KINGS PREMIERE POLITICALLY-SCATHING VIDEO “GREED”

Rockers The Slim Kings are proud to premiere the brand new music video for their new track, “Greed.” The politically-scathing video takes aim at Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump and other world leaders and businessmen who have shown a penchant for greed. Of the new video, The Slim Kings singer and guitarist Michael Sackler-Berner commented, “This video and song is less about an election, and more about the metastasized, socially sanctioned disease called “Greed” that encourages human beings to rob each other of dignity and resources. The band is proud to say that all the statistics in the video used to make our case are not sketchy meme shares, but come from credible sources like the World Corruption Index, Forbes, etc. The fact that Hitler sold roughly the same amount of books in 1933 that Trump has sold this year is an eerie statistic indeed, and one we couldn’t help but share.”

Sallie Ford’s New Album ‘Soul Sick’ To Be Released On February 10, 2017

There are artists who can command attention. They lean into their songs with an irresistible edge and total emotional connection and stay there. Sallie Ford is one of those artists. On her upcoming new album Soul Sick, out on February 10, 2017 via Vanguard Records, Ford creates music that draws on all of her influences but still comes out her own. From the album’s opening line “I woke up feeling sour on the sweetest summer day,” the 11 tracks on the album chronicle Ford’s journey through anxiety, insecurity, and depression.

“This is a ‘confessional’ album. It’s about struggling with my issues – some that I’ve overcome and some that I still carry around. I felt confused, down about life and unsure of myself,” states Ford. “On these new songs, it felt good to write on one theme and from one place. All in all, Soul Sick has taught me a lot about myself and helped me to heal.”

BOSSIE PREMIERES FIRST SINGLE OF 2016, “A LOT LIKE LOVE”

On the inspiration for the single, Douris stated, “I have a love/hate relationship with the internet. It’s something that I’ve been trying to suss out as I’ve been writing this record, which deals with my anxieties about relating to people. As of 2016, I’ve been using Facebook for ten (seriously, TEN) years, so it’s played a key role in every one of my adult friendships. I’ve been feeling weird about how it’s affected my ability to make contact with other humans. I’ll hit “Like” here, send an “I miss youuuuuuu” there, just to feel like I’m still connecting to someone, even if I haven’t seen that person in years. I want to be optimistic and believe that we’re all more connected than ever – we can keep every friend we’ve ever made by typing in their name – but I also kind of feel lonelier than ever. I mean Facebook literally JUST sent me a notification letting me know I’d been friends with my own sister for nine years.”

Tracked in an Upstate New York living room, then finished in her current home in Los Angeles – it is appropriate that this album was recorded by Meg herself – for Meg, who has an acute ear for detail, has touched every corner, has seen every vision ’til its end.

You can check out the title track featuring D∆WN up top; a serene track that showcases the producer’s nuance in a more traditional songwriting setting. The project is a departure from Darren Williams past work leaping into more traditional songwriting as opposed to the beats and club tracks that we’ve grown accustomed to from the UK producer. Of the EP Star Slinger says: “Since a kid I’d been listening to radio, my parent’s old records – as well as discovering music for myself via Zines, clubs, music venues & a lot of record shopping. I’ve been through every phase a teenager goes thru. I was simultaneously into everything from folk, punk, new wave, 90semo trance, house, indie, hip hop, r n b, neo soul, uk garage, happy hardcore, grime, etc but of course with that – you fine tune your tastes eventually. I think I have listened to so much music that I’m still doing that. The one common thing in my life is that I love good pop music. I love the art of a relatable song & with this EP I wanted to do that.”

Outside of his skills behind the mixing board, Sepka is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter that wants to bring these other talents to the foreground. Walkingshoe will also being playing as a live entitiy and is sure to be an artist to watch in Chicago.

J. Stalin ft. G-Eazy & The Jacka – “Party Jumpin 2”

Praised by Passion of the Weiss as a “ceaseless stream of mutated hyphy,” J. Stalin is one of the most reliable purveyors of funky street music in the Bay Area. In 2006, Stalin connected with The Jacka for “Party Jumpin’,” a laid-back dancefloor jam and a highlight from Stalin’s debut album, On Behalf of the Streets. Ten years later, Stalin and The Mekanix reunite for the sequel: “Party Jumpin’ 2,” which features a posthumous hook from The Jacka, and will appear on On Behalf of the Streets 2. Premiered today by The FADER, “Party Jumpin 2” is another soulful jam, with Stalin delivering slick, raspy wordplay, G-Eazy leaning into his lothario persona, and The Jacka providing a smooth anchor for the track in the chorus. The third single from OBOTS 2, “Party Jumpin 2” follows the video for “Get Me Some,” featuring Nef The Pharaoh and Lil Blood, and September’s “West Oakland N*gga.”
