On the inspiration for the track, songwriter Rooney stated, “Victor Bockris is a writer who was part of the 70’s downtown art/punk scene in New York. He and Warhol superstar Gerald Malanga wrote a book called ‘Uptight: the Velvet Underground Story’ that I came across at some point growing up in suburban Philadelphia, and read to death. ‘Uptight’ led me to ‘Transformer’, a Lou Reed biography that Bockris wrote, and ‘What’s Welsh for Zen’, John Cale’s autobiography co-written with Bockris. In the days before widespread internet, information, stories and photographs of this stuff was tough to come by, so Victor Bockris was a lifeline for me. The song includes all sorts of romanticism of the past, celebration of obscurity and poetic oblivion.”
