SKOPE NEWS FOR OCTOBER 5, 2016

True Moon releases ‘Voodoo’ video

Swedish Dark Wave band True Moon is releasing a video for their debut single “Voodoo”. The minimalistic band is fronted by Karolina Engdahl who´s strong voice both empowers and stand out in a dark and raw musical landscape. The lyrics grasp hold of the listener as Karolina is both self-disclosure and provides the safety and closeness only a mother has the ability to do. As the mystic Malmö based band releases ‘Voodoo’ as their first track, their debut album lures around the corner and will be released the 18th of November. True Moon got the darkness and melodies from the Scandinavian music scene but at the same time hold a foot in the genuine post punk scene from England in the early 80´s.

New Music from Former Isley Brother Chris Jasper

As you may (or may not) know, Chris Jasper (former Isley Brother/Isley-Jasper-Isley), is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and recent recipient of the National R&B Music Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award, among other awards.

Unfortunately, name recognition (“Jasper” not “Isley”) has been a hindrance to Chris in his long solo career even though he was responsible for writing the majority of the gold and platinum music for the Isley Brothers (1973-1983) and Isley-Jasper-Isley (1984-1987). Chris is truly “unsung.”

Throttle – ‘Money Maker’ feat. LunchMoney Lewis & Aston Merrygold

19-year-old, Australian prodigy Throttle is now ready to reveal the official music video for his latest single, ‘Money Maker’ feat. LunchMoney Lewis and Aston Merrygold.

The tongue-in-cheek music video captures Throttle’s ‘dirty disco’ vibe in the most literal sense. Taking place on set during a 70’s-themed adult film shoot, we follow Velvet Jesus – the funk’d up director on his quest to make X-rated gold. Unimpressed by his stars’ deflating performance, Velvet steps out of his director’s seat and shows the actors how it’s done – all whilst miming along to Throttle’s infectious track.

From then on it becomes a glittery chaos – with help from the stagehands and female extras, the music video turns into a group affair with synchronised dance moves and some much needed censor bars. Flicking between backstage dressing rooms and the excessive set, the video is daring but cheeky. With a small cameo from Throttle himself, the 70’s adult film inspired video is sure to be a viral hit.

Atkinson, celebrates a true songwriter’s songwriter, a Texas tunesmith who has inspired both younger and older artists for nearly two decades. Compact Disk Dummies fans in control through a self-made online mixing desk

Compact Disk Dummies are a band that always try to create and expand their own universe, mostly by doing stuff themselves. A lot of stuff.

Ranging from artwork to music videos and from synthesizers to toys, their self-crafted universe combines dark themes with vibrant imagery and technical knowhow with childish playfulness.

“We try to do everything ourselves because we’re afraid of other people messing things up”, they say. “We only bring in other people if we can’t do it ourselves.”

But with their latest outburst of creativity they expect you to do just that- mess things up.

PALACE Share new single ‘It’s Over’

PALACE’s new single, the ornate, broken paean ‘It’s Over’ is now streaming online. When frontman Leo Wyndham wrote the track, he had no idea that it would become an unknowing prediction of the heartbreak to come and that the album – which tackles loss, love, and the shifting tides of human emotion with both power and restraint – would take on a darker relevance. “Two or three of the songs were almost predictions,” Leo says ruefully. “They are about things that had never happened to me in a relationship but have all kind of come true.”
