Knoxville-based WHITECHAPEL will saw blade their way through a monstrous co-headlining tour with Suicide Silence. Sponsored by BlackCraft Cult Clothing, the Straight Outta Hell tour will commence on September 28th in Portland, Oregon and conclude October 22nd in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additional support will be provided by Carnifex and Oceano, with Despised Icon appearing at select dates.

The Velveteins “Hanging From The Ceiling”

Hailing from sunny Edmonton AB, The Velveteins are a rock n’ roll band consisting of primary songwriters Spencer Morphy (vocals, guitar) and Addison Hiller (percussion). Leitvox shares “A Whole Other Country (Ladytron Remix)”

“A Whole Other Country” remixed by Reuben Wu, of the popular British band Ladytron, is a new approach to Leitvox’s single released in the U.S. last month.

The remix of “A Whole Other Country” gives the track a much more ominous and desolate tone, punctuated by a faster beat than the original. A combination of simple (even a little uplifting), 8-bit style synths in some parts of the track contrast with segments of dark, soaring melodies in the rest of the track.

DAVID BOWIE ‘LEGACY’ 11/11/16

JJ McGuigan has signed with MTS Management Group for promotion of his latest EP

Wichita, Kansas-based alt-rock singer-songwriter and VH1 “Save The Music” Songwriting Contest Finalist, JJ McGuigan has signed with veteran publicity and promotions company, MTS Management Group. MTS will handle pr for McGuigan’s latest EP release, Dissociative. A Wichita native, JJ McGuigan was diagnosed with OCD and Depression at age 16. He has since used his experiences and his music to become an advocate for mental health awareness:

Grammy-Nominated Zomba Prison Project Premieres Mini-Documentary at Mic

Earlier this month, the Grammy-nominated Zomba Prison Project released their second album I Will Not Stop Singing via Six Degrees Records. Featuring prisoners and officers from Malawi’s maximum security prison, the Associated Press recently said of the album “if a picture is worth a thousand words, these prison songs are snapshots which could inspire a lengthy book.”

Mic just premiered a mini-documentary featuring footage from inside Zomba Prison, saying “these songs of love and loss transcend language and border.”

Blue Plutos Premieres “Wide Eyed, Etc.” Via Gold Flake Paint

Formed by brothers Tyler Agnew and Ryan Agnew in the Fall of 2011, Blue Plutos originally began as a side, recording project of their primary band, Howling Boil. With Blue Plutos, Tyler and Ryan sought an additional outlet for evolving their songwriting and producing skills while giving themselves the chance to collaborate closely with one another. Throughout the Winter of 2011-2012, the two wrote and recorded the songs that would make up their debut release – “Parcells Beauty Shoppe”, an album of 15 self-proclaimed ‘American britpop’ tracks, which was released in the Spring of 2012.

The Legends Share New Single “Cocaine”

Don Henley Opens the Walden Pond Visitor Center

On Tuesday, September 27, Don Henley joined state officials in Concord, Massachusetts for the opening of a new Visitor Center at historic Walden Pond made famous by writer/philosopher Henry David Thoreau. The building is a model of environmental sustainability and will offer state-of-the-art exhibits for school groups and the 500,000 visitors who come to Walden Pond each year. The pond and the surrounding woods inspired the writings of Thoreau, the father of the American conservation movement and a leader in the evolution of social reform.

The Man With The Golden Voice is back again. Mark Sultan started with the unfortunate moniker (BBQ) in 2000, playing shows as a one-man band at parties and for friends, releasing a few 45s and a couple of LPs in the US and in Europe. And then he formed ‘The King Khan & BBQ Show’ with pal King Khan in 2003. A few years later, he reverted back to the name Mark Sultan to cut records on In The Red Records. It was a way to make ‘full band’ sounds without misleading fans.

Concord Bicycle is pleased to announce the October 28, 2016 release of The Independent Years: 1983 – 2004, Social Distortion’s first-ever vinyl box set collecting the band’s independent label output, Mommy’s Little Monster, Prison Bound, Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll and the early years compilation Mainliner (Wreckage From the Past). Mixing Bruce Springsteen’s factory-overalls ethic while supplying plenty of SoCal attitude and aggression, Social Distortion was formed by Mike Ness and his high school friend Dennis Danell, breaking through in 1983 with the critically acclaimed first album Mommy’s Little Monster. Their 1988 follow-up, Prison Bound, hinted at a sonic change to come, and well before the band’s 2004 Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll their sound had solidified into the instantly recognizable brand of rock ‘n’ roll that’s defined them since.
