Swet Shop Boys ‘Zayn Malik’

Swet Shop Boys (Heems, Riz Ahmed & Redinho) share new single ‘Zayn Malik’, taken from their debut album Cashmere.

Named after the English pop star, the track originally began as a freestyle session but soon unravelled a narrative about young people’s role models.
Riz explains: “We got in the booth and pretty much free-styled this track. At the time it just flowed but stepping back I see how there’s a thread in
there about aspiration and role models. It’s confusing for our youth about who to look up to; radicals or pop stars, or neither. Somewhere out there
Heems is “a college dorm room poster” tho, and maybe that’s something. ”

Ofelia K.’s voice and compelling songs are worn down to perfection and balance wistful maturity with a certain earnest and eternally young expression.
Not quite pop, not quite anything else, the young singer-songwriter showcases her beautiful symmetry with her music somewhere between an unrepressed
journal entry, a comforting arm around the shoulder and her smoky, shimmering glare, her eyes so knowingly staring into you. With spins from Annie Mac
at BBC Radio 1, over 2 million Spotify plays, and features on multiple television shows, the world heard her starry eyed songs and asked for oh-so-many
more.

A new acoustic video of Lori McKenna performing “The Bird & The Rifle” premiered yesterday at Noisey. Of the video, the site praises, “Visually, it is

bare-bones version of one of the most beautiful songs in country music right now.”

Quiet Quiet Band Return with a new EP + Track Share ‘In Your Body’

A deliciously lilting country-swing played with a masterfully light touch, ‘In The Body’ voyages on a sashaying groove of woody bass and shuffling
brushes, while violas flurry and electric guitars flare. As the song expands to the finger-clicking bluesy earworm of a chorus, singer Tom’s lyrics
take on an ever-more corporeal bent, developing into an all-out love song to what nature gave us. He explains: “‘In The Body’ is an ode to the strange
flesh-carriages we ride around in. Be yours an object of lust or disgust, perfect or defective, this weird machine demonstrates your existence. Use it,
abuse it, cherish it.” And while we’re on the subject of cherishing, that’s the only sensible course of action to take to Quiet Quiet Band’s strangely
sensual new release.

Monomyth new single, “Puppet Creek,” streaming now on Stereogum

Happy Pop Family is the latest offering from Monomyth, Canada’s leading purveyors of mid-fi anthemic bedroom pop. Recorded in February of 2015 with
Mike Wright (Each Other) at Montreal’s infamous Drones Club, the album has tweaked and refined the sonic palette of their 2014 debut Saturnalia
Regalia. The resulting batch of songs is imbued with an almost Blake-ian wonder, delicately balancing like Charlie Chaplin on a taut guitar cable
between innocence and experience. “At the time I was really interested in the idea of liminal spaces,” explains Josh Salter. “I felt like my entire
city was full of holes and I kept falling into them.”

Growth Premieres New Single “Wait” Via New Noise Magazine

“During the first half of 2016, Growth recorded a series of songs in Fengersfors defunct paper mill, located in Dalslands ancient forests. The trio is
lurking in the shadows, taking their time and fine-tuning their craft. Bittersweet sensations of veiled seascapes, frostbitten asphalt and endless
spiral staircases. The tone is both fragile and threatening, slippery garage rock that never chooses the easy way. Open a door, close a window, choose
your battle.”

Codeine, Mountain Dew, Weed

Though Chicago’s J.R. Donato is only 22-years old, his versatility of flows, facility with hooks, and clever punchline lyricism is indicative of his
decade of experience in the rap game. In “All That I Need,” Donato’s latest video single, premiered by Fake Shore Drive, the North-sider rides a
percussive flow for an epic minute-long verse, boasting about his rhyming ability, his lavish lifestyle, and his prodigious drug habit over towering
trap synthesizers and skittering snares: “All these blue hunnids, all these blue hunnids/I be in New York like a Buffalo Bill/Really like Eli, and I be
tree high/in these Adidas, n*ggas can’t see I.” Filmed at Chicago’s Fat Tiger Workshop and directed by @aWMfilm, the color-rich video finds Donato
mixing his lean with Mountain Dew and mobbing with his posse outside the store.
