Belfast duo New Portals release ‘Cage’ video

New Portals have unveiled the video for their new single ‘Cage’. It follows previous singles ‘Stay Here Tonight’, which received support from Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens, and the highly acclaimed ‘Groove Boy’ which saw the band picked out as The Guardian’s ‘New Band Of The Week’.

Filmed late at night while the city sleeps, the video for ‘Cage’ features a lonely man soliciting a woman walking the streets. After driving through empty roads and exchanging money, they park up in a deserted area before breaking into a breath-taking dance routine, channelling lust and regret in a beautiful ballet of taboo.

Skinny Living Release ‘Only I’

Skinny Living release their new single ‘Only I’ on August 26th through the band’s own label ‘Orange Room Records and distributed via Red Essential.

The song is taken from the Wakefield based band’s debut EP – ‘III’ also due for release on the 26th August. ‘Only I’ is a dynamic piece of acoustic soul showcasing Belfast born singer Ryan Johnston’s haunting vocals and revealing lyrics.

The track reflects on a time when Ryan found himself in a tricky situation with some local hard men and someone placed a gun in front of him and said, “This is how you sort this.” “I thought, ‘I am not that person,'” he remembers. “It was a major wake up call, but the song’s about how easy it is for any of us to go down that rabbit hole, and find ourselves in these sort of situations.”

Thom Sonny Green’s debut solo LP, High Anxiety, dropped last week via Sudden Records / Canvasback with a massive 21-song tracklist of cerebral, experimental electronic. As a bonus for fans, Thom teamed up with Fiasco Design to create a unique platform for fans to remix four unreleased tracks. Via Thom’s website, the user is able to play, pause and control the speed of each stem within the track, allowing them to create their own sounds on the fly. Each track is accompanied by one of 21 abstract visuals that Thom created in collaboration with Nichola Farnan for High Anxiety. These visuals are designed to support the audio and are linked to the same controls that play and pause the tracks themselves.

THE AVALANCHES REVEAL VIDEO FOR “SUBWAYS”

The Avalanches have revealed the video for “Subways,” the new single from their acclaimed sophomore album, Wildflower(Astralwerks). The Australian band teamed up with subversive French illustrators Mrzyk & Moriceau, who created a rainbow rail 2D animated trip through New York City’s subway system. Produced by Parisian production company Division, Mrzyk & Moriceau’s vision of “Subways” follows a hand drawn cast of colorful outcasts as they walk, skate, dance and sing a surreal tale on their ordinarily mundane commute. American Football announce New Album + hear new song

On October 21st Polyvinyl Records will release American Football. The new self-titled sophomore album from the celebrated band comes seventeen years after their debut. L’Orange and Mr. Lif Announce New Album ‘The Life & Death of Scenery’

North Carolina producer L’Orange and veteran spitter Mr. Lif have announced a collaborative album titled The Life & Death of Scenery to be released digitally on October 7th on Adult Swim and one week later in physical format via Mello Music Group on October 14th. Special guests include DJ Q-Bert, Gonjasufi, Akrobatik, Insight and Wyatt Cenac (Daily Show, Bojack Horseman) who lends his voice as the narrator of the story. Ripp Flamez Addresses Gun Violence In Solemn New Video

Cleveland is not an easy place to be from and hometown hero Ripp Flamez knows that just as well as anyone. Asked what was the most important lesson he’s learned from living in Cleveland, Ripp responds, “How valuable time is. I have friends who I wish were still here, who are either dead or in jail and I wish I could spend time with them again.” Premiered today by Mass Appeal, his video for “Learning,” a track from his most recent album DayOne Forever, follows Ripp through the Cleveland night as he sings about the tragedies he has faced, stopping in a bodega and a graveyard. “Songs like ‘Learning’ tend to get overlooked so it’s important to me to highlight that song and others like it that are a part of my life story,” Ripp explained when asked why it was important to him to make this video. The video also shows a group of children dancing, which Ripp explains, “The kids represent us as kids living through and around all the tragic events and being able to make light of it, to be able to dance and smile through all of it. The product of a wrenching year following Trails and Ways’ debut album Pathology (Barsuk 2015), Own It chronicles an attempt at self-transformation through lush, hook-laden songs. Today, the rising, Atlanta, Georgia-based quintet Warehouse premiered their new music video for “Simultaneous Contrasts” via FADER. Directed by Greta Kline of Frankie Cosmos, “Simultaneous Contrasts” is the band’s first music video and the second song from their new forthcoming album ‘super low’ out September 30th on Bayonet Records. FADER raved “It’s a cool track, built from crisp riffs, coarse vocals, and a vaguely tangled structure that’s tough to predict, even after multiple listens.”

Decibel Magazine is now playing a new lyric video from New England-based melodic doom outfit, ONERA, the band featuring musicians hailing from the likes of Morgion, Keen Of The Crow, Cortez, December Wolves, Watchmaker, and others. The new video was created by Dan Blomquist (Conclave) for the track “Cold Hand’s Caress,” culled from ONERA’s recently self-released debut EP, Olde.
