“Ready Set” is a high-energy song that brings to mind Carrie Underwood’s new Sunday Night Football theme, “Oh, Sunday Night.” That’s not to say that Jess and the Bandits’ single has anything to do with football — but it’s a tune that will get listeners revved up for the day, the night and everything in between.

Being released on Friday, September 9, To The Tall Trembling Trees serves as the first set of official music from Fences since his 2014 offering, Lesser Oceans, and is a collection signifying a new chapter and total autonomy for Mansfield. Free from the machinations of a major label, Mansfield went back to basics for his forthcoming offering. Dreamy Punk Rock, strictly limited to 2 minutes per song, made for the short attention span of children, because it’s the youngest that are in the focus of this band. Donat wrote the first album for his then one year old daughter, now, with the birth of his second girl there comes the second one: “Firconium,” due for release July 29th, is packed with melodies and pop appeal that even children can sing along to, yet the music is lo-fi, loud, full of energy, distortion and love for life, dream pop the punk way, it comes straight out of a garage in the sky.

The NYC-based singer and multi-instrumentalist seamlessly melds elements of classic soul and contemporary pop to create a style all his own. Of the single, Stefan says, “The song is about a very close friend I had in high school, but I rounded the friendship up to a romantic relationship for the sake of the sog. The friendship ended in such a confusing and terrible way that it forever changed how I thought about the longevity of any relationship, both romantic and platonic.”

“I want to see sideways, when I’m looking straight ahead, and I want to know what death holds for me” sings Chris Robbins – an NYC-based songwriter taking cover under the moniker CC Mose. Those words (which are the opening lyrics to Robbins’ debut album as CC Mose) serve as the perfect introduction to the next eleven tracks of melancholy pop perfection known as Beat Me. Bridging the gap between lo-fi darling and sun-burnt hymnist, Robbins quietly reminds us throughout the record that not even the warbliest, scuzziest, blown-out, digital bliss can stand without the foundation of a well crafted song.
