USELESS EATERS PREMIERE FULL STREAM OF LOOMING, POST-PUNK INSPIRED ALBUM AT IMPOSE
We’ve got fresh new jitters from SF punk band Useless Eaters: a new batch called Relaxing Death. Relaxing it is not – sleepless synths and serrated drum machine loops help populate their sharp-edged, futuristic sound. Angry and intense, tightly wound and razor sync’d. Nightmare punks on a hallucinatory run through empty streets. Up to no good.
CASKET GIRLS’ ALBUM STREAM
Noisey is streaming Casket Girls’ new album The Night Machines ahead of Friday’s release date. The album is available to pre-order on LP and digitally now in the Graveface online store. Noisey on the album, “On the band’s third LP, The Night Machines, the sinister element remains, but it takes time to work its way under your skin. ‘True Believers’ has had a synth-strong makeover, replacing that straight-fingered piano with distorted keys and consuming those swirling vocals. Opener ’24 Hours’ seems at first glance to show as much light as dark and the wonderful ‘Virginia Beach’ has a sweet, pretty melody to go along with that 70s music-box futurism….A lot of the consuming instrumentation comes from Best Coast multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno and the steady drums are from TW Walsh of Soft Drugs, Headphones and Pedro the Lion. There’s plenty of talent behind the tracks before you get to the main cast. But it’s the Greene Sisters and that uncanny charm that makes it worth sticking around.” ”
THE LEGENDS NEW SINGLE
In 2015 The Legends returned with the album “It’s Love” after a 6-year hiatus. The melancholic disco explosion “Summer In The City (Living Is For Somebody Else),” which premiered this week at SPIN, proves they’re here to stay. The Legends’ Johan Angergård told SPIN, “My releases are imprints of the particular time in my life when they were recorded. Angergård adds, “If I ever want to find out what my life felt like during a certain year, I’ll just listen to the songs I put out at that time.”
Those who have followed The Legends in the past will not be surprised that the one-man band has moved on sound-wise since last year. New life calls for new sounds.

The music has flowed from Beck without pause since 2014’s Album of the Year Grammy-winner Morning Phase: from globe-spanning live shows consistently hailed as the best of Beck’s storied career to the 2015 psych-dance summer jam “Dreams” that NPR hailed as “urgently contemporary and irresistibly vintage,” USA Today labelled “a strong contender for song of the summer,” and Rolling Stone raved “This funky little groove is giving us Midnite Vultures flashbacks in the best way possible.” This creative watershed couldn’t even be confined to Beck’s output under his own name, as evidenced by sublime collaborations including the Chemical Brothers’ “Wide Open” and more recently Flume’s “Tiny Cities.”

The darkly tinged, guitar-driven alt-rock song is about taking physical or metaphysical “Happy Pills” for a an easy fix, which stems from the idea that our culture has become too quick to prescribe pills to settle whatever ailments people of all ages may have, but these prescriptions may not actually be solving anyone’s problems. “Happy Pills” is now available at all digital retail providers.
L-SPEX PRESENTS NEW SINGLE ‘S A D D I V A’
“S A D D I V A” is a portrait of the better life. Away from the nuisance of the streets, not a life of lavish but stable and established. It stems from my insecurities and inability to fulfill the “provider” role that’s expected of males. “S A D D I V A” is defying that, has no need for genders. I wrote the track with fairly loose pronouns and I always like to give women the more dominant role in my writing; it’s an expression of my own femininity as sometimes, I am different characters in real life as well as in song.
