BETTER THINGS NEW VIDEO FEAT LEGOS

Burlington, VT’s alt-punk band Better Things has released a new Lego-based music video for “Stick That in Your Juicebox and Sip It.” The new single evokes the logic behind the band’s name, which is all about moving forward, never losing hope, and pushing for self-betterment. The song is about progressing from loss, pain, or hardship, and working with what you have by keeping an open mind. From the opening line of “It’s a process that I’m not all that familiar with” to the closing “I’ll be alright, I’m moving forward,” it is a complete resolution of their drummer Mark’s internal conflict after losing love.

SAVOIR ADORE “GIANTS”

Savoir Adore will release new album The Love That Remains on August 12, and will celebrate that same evening with a headline show at the Bowery Ballroom (tickets on-sale this Friday, May 6). Self-produced with mixing by Claudius Mittendorfer (Big Data, Neon Indian, Weezer), The Love That Remains finds the band at its most mature, honest and ambitious. Now led solely by principal songwriter/vocalist Paul Hammer, the album tackles themes of love, loss and the often-inescapable darkness of memories.

“When we were in Brazil in 2014, I learned the phrase Saudades, which describes a deep longing for someone or something as an almost physical entity. The idea of love as a supernatural, physical thing was a very interesting and inspiring idea to me, “ says Paul. “From there, the album became about rediscovering love, in every way, finding it again in the world, with someone else, and with yourself. Whereas our last record was the story of two, I found it fitting and necessary to write this from a very personal, singular perspective.”

Today Noisey has premiered “Tears Of A Clown” from The Night Machines. Noisey says, “The song mixes together cool-kid 90s alt-pop with intense, industrial bassiness. ALARIC “ANGEL”

San Francisco Bay Area darkness-obsessed DIY indie label Sentient Ruin Laboratories and Neurot Recordings are extremely proud and honored to announce the release of End of Mirrors the magnificent new album by San Francisco Bay Area-based dark punk/deathrock supergroup ALARIC.

Claustrophobic, gloomy, and epically grandiose, End of Mirrors is the mesmerizing and towering comeback by this recently reunited San Francisco Bay Area-based neo-deathrock superband formed by members of Noothgrush, Pins of Light, and Cross Stitched Eyes. Gloriously gloomy, unbelievably moving, and timelessly dark, End Of Mirrors provides an emotional and deeply physical journey through inky, blackened sonic murk, devoid of all hope. Influenced by the likes of Christian Death, Killing Joke, Amebix and early Neurosis, Alaric’s new album is a crushing dark punk opera that will haunt your soul, an instant classic for a new dark age. Alaric began their voyage in 2008 with an eye toward creating moody and compelling music unlike any other, that would seamlessly sew together a daunting sonic arabesque made of desolate and heart-splitting deathrock, gloomy and drooping post-punk, and a tension and hopelessness akin only to certain moods found in the most disinheriting doom metal aesthetics.

JHEREK BISCHOFF + STEREOGUM SHARES SWEEPING TITLE TRACK

Los Angeles based Jherek Bischoff is equal parts composer, arranger, producer and multi- instrumental performer. Hailed a “pop polymath” by The New York Times, Bischoff has blazed an unconventional path in creating an impressive body of work. After touring and recording in DIY indie rock and experimental groups including The Dead Science, Parenthetical Girls and The Degenerate Art Ensemble, Bischoff found himself creating orchestral music almost accidentally. Utilizing his DIY background, Bischoff wrote his critically-acclaimed 2012 orchestral pop album Composed on a ukulele, recording one instrument at a time with just one microphone and a laptop, layering each individual track to synthesize the sound of an orchestra. The level of collaborations on the album, including David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, Nels Cline and Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), understandably turned more than a few heads to his unique talent.

AUKAI SHARES NOSTALGIC, INTIMATE NEW CUT “HIDDEN”

Aukai is a Hawaiian word meaning seafarer or traveler. It’s also used as a proper name, and people who are called “Aukai” tend to have a mystical, philosophical, introspective nature. GYPSY & THE CAT RELEASE VIDEO FOR ‘I JUST WANNA BE SOMEBODY ELSE’

Gypsy & the Cat’s latest “existential banger” (Noisey), ‘I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else’, is the CAT-ylst (sorry) for the next installment in their two-part music video series. The plot thickens. The quasi-feline figure that stalked the streets of Tokyo in ‘Inside Your Mind’, pursued by none other than Gypsy & the Cat’s Lionel and Xavier, has returned. But everything isn’t quite as it seems…
