VICETONE EP STREAM

Vicetone introduce their debut Aurora EP. The five-track inaugural effort sticks closely to the duo’s fast-paced melodic style while taking the time to tell a story. That story is filled with bubbly synths, groovy basslines, and fluttery keys. Aurora is more than just a dance record, which becomes more and more evident with each listen through as each track is influenced as much by a classical symphony as modern dancefloor zeitgeist.

CHAIM TANNENBAUM NEW SINGLE

For over five decades, Chaim Tannenbaum has quietly become a folk music legend, one who has happily devoted his time, talent, wisdom, and support to the musical careers of others. A multi-instrumentalist who has honed his craft since childhood, he’s been a long-time collaborator of many, most notably the extended Wainwright-McGarrigle clan, dating back to the mid-1960’s. That is, until now. At age 68, Tannenbaum will release his long-awaited self-titled debut album on May 27th through StorySound Records. Today, CBC Music unveiled the first look at the album with the “delicate and tender” first single “London Longing for Home.”

The video lays out Claude’s vision for creating an escape for music fans, a lighthearted adventure complete with sun soaked slip-n-slides, mud drenched tug-o-war, and booty shaking beats for 3 days straight. MANTAR ALBUM STREAM

With the release of Ode To The Flame, the upcoming full-length from Northern Germany-based metal duo, MANTAR now less than a week away, today Decibel Magazine delivers the nihilistic offering its scorching entirety noting: “MANTAR have a thing for destroying stuff by fire. Their debut full-length, 2014’s Death By Burning, roasted away all the unnecessary to create a raw, straight-forward stomp of blackened doom punk that made for existential inquiry to the tune of a punchy beat. Sophomore Ode To The Flame spreads that inferno, scorching through forty-plus minutes of atmosphere-drenched vitriol. Or, if that sounds like way too much talking and not enough headbanging, ignore our description and stream the full album below to be scorched/crushed back to the primordial muck of prehuman existence.”

ACAPULCO LIPS NEW VIDEO

Draped in sheets, in a room adorned with skulls, candles, and spider webs, Acapulco Lips tune into their creepy side with their latest video for “Awkward Waltz,” directed by Magalie Laroche. As singer and bassist Maria-Elena Juarez told Music & Riots Magazine about the song:

“‘Awkward Waltz’ is about our favorite DIY venue in Seattle, Black Lodge. My thought was that there’s this really great thing going on so close to the center of town that does so much for the independent music community, and as things start to change its existence could potentially be threatened. So the song’s message is pretty much, to anyone that may try to disrupt, ‘Move along. There’s nothing to see here.’”

COYOTE “NIGHTS”

Hailing from Charlottetown, PE, Coyote is a band that thrives on massive guitar hooks, synth-forward arrangements, and life-affirming lyrics. Their sophomore release, Proof of Life, is nominated for three 2016 East Coast Music Awards including Group Recording of the Year, Pop Recording of the Year, and Rising Star Recording of the Year.

VANDAVEER SHARE CAPTIVATING NEW VIDEO VIA NPR

Three weeks away from the release of The Wild Mercury, Vandaveer are debuting a captivating new animated video, directed by Michael Lloyd, via NPR.

“A Little Time Off Ahead” is an upbeat number off the fifth, and career-defining LP for the band. The video’s “storybook” aesthetic, coupled with the syrup-sweet doubled vocal delivery of the song, could have easily touched on saccharine with many other collaborators, but predictably, with the earnest talents of both frontman Mark Charles Heidinger, and director Michael Lloyd, the end result dovetails as well as fans might hope.

KRONIC RELEASES ‘DARK SHAPES’

Australian-born producer Kronic continues to make massive waves every time he jets back and forth across the Pacific — his signature hybrid of electronic and hip hop production styles in tow. “Dark Shapes” features the vocal talents of rising Sydney vocalist Xavier Dunn and Lupe Fiasco’s frequent collaborator Nikki Jean and marks the first taste from his forthcoming EP.

WILLIAM TYLER “GONE CLEAR”

William wrote of his inspiration behind the new songs: As I crisscrossed the country on tour, I spent a lot of time listening to what would at first seem to be disparate streams of music: ’70s country and ’70s German rock. Yet, I was able to connect the dots in my head about what united the beat of Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, and Barefoot Jerry with the “motorik” crawl of Neu!, Kraftwerk, and Harmonia. If nothing else, all of it sure as hell was great driving music. I wanted to figure out a way to make an album that tapped into both universes: hillbilly truckers and synth-soaked Teutons.
