CHANCE THE RAPPER “ANGELS”

Chance the Rapper is running his career the same way he runs a beat. He’s finding paths other emcees can’t even spot. His resume has been celebrated, but it’s worth stating again. He’s released the first free project on iTunes, he’s headlined festivals, he’s recorded with Madonna, and now he’s performed on SNL…twice. The Harriet Tubman of the underground, he’s blazing a trail for future emcees to follow. Kanye was begging labels to let him in. Chance is fighting them off with a stick. They didn’t want Kanye but they’d kill to have Chance.

KLAUS JOHANN GROBE NEW VIDEO

Driven by an organic, metronomic beat aligned with synth, chant-like vocals and a monstrous funky bass, this is seriously bum-waggling electro-freak goodness. The music does seem to aim towards a certain kind of hypnosis, particularly as the sleeping pill echo-heavy vocals cycle over the locked grooves the pair throw down.

Klaus Johann Grobe are certainly aiming towards the more dance-orientated arena of Kraut music, aligning the metro pulse of Klaus Dinger and Kraftwerk’s calculators to more biological factors – kind of like moss growing on the mainframe.

SWERVE NEW VIDEO

“We feel that Everything (Hey Girl) has a slinky, moody vibe to it, but like a lot of our songs it doesn’t take itself too seriously. With that in mind, we wanted the video to be a kind of a playful dark comedy- something that might straddle the line between moody sincerity and silly humor. To create the video’s trippy, drunken effect, we actually filmed the clip in double time and then slowed it down to match up with the audio track!”

The chorus is “I’ve been living in the city so long/where everything is covered by smog/and everything I wanted was wrong”

TH’FIKA “STRANGER”

‘Stranger’ is the debut single from upcoming Gold Coast band TH’FIKA. The track as the name suggests, talks about the emotions related to becoming a ‘stranger’ in somebody elses eyes. ‘Stranger’ is a creative response of disappointment and anger to a one sided relationship. Originally It was never meant to be a song for the band but an emotional vent to gain closure. When Michael heard Lily sing stranger in its raw essence he could feel her pain. They re-wrote the song from two perspectives; a back and forth argumentative song. This being one out of the two Alt/Rock songs on their EP, it really came together when drummer Mitch Clark got involved. Stranger is the harsh reality of growing apart which you get to hear from the vulnerable exchange of vocals.
