MISS LAVA NEW SINGLE

In advance of its release today Revolver Magazine premieres the band’s tripnotic visual accompaniment to first single, “In The Arms Of The Freaks.” “We used the inspiration that the song gave us and tried to make a psychedelic trip. It starts simple and then becomes more colorful and destructive,” explains Bogdan Dumitriu of Perfectly Random Studios.

“This song deals with fighting your own personal freak show,” adds vocalist Johnny Lee. “Staging and dealing with your own aberrations can be a messy trip most of the times.”

CLAY SINGLE “STAY CALM”

A stratospheric, stadium sized indie-pop hit in the making, this new single sees the 4 piece moving forward from their humble indie-funk beginnings. A clever recipe of delicate synth work, and punchy guitar riffs – the instrumentals behind ‘Stay Calm!’ sound wonderfully direct and ambitious, complete with some vocal melody hooks that are simply impossible to shake off.

According to the band, “The song is written from an obsessive viewpoint you know, that idealistic thought of being in love. One of the lines ‘Im not gonna change the world overnight’ is almost justification for the lyric it precedes, that sort of unsure/ indecisive mindset. But whatever, Stay Calm!”

Brooklyn Vegan has premiered “In Shadows” from the forthcoming release and described it by saying “it’s the kind of haunting loner folk that’ll likely hit fans of Leonard Cohen, Sibylle Baier or Angel Olsen, but Ashley’s got a bigger voice than these kinds of artists usually do. She actually sounds quite a bit like her sister (not a bad thing at all). Her album isn’t only this kind of stuff though. Previous single ‘Tonight’ whips out a fuzzy psychedelic rock guitar solo, and ‘Tired’ is upbeat indie rock.”

LITTLE SCREAM NEW SINGLE

Today, Little Scream shares a dark and epic track from her Merge debut Cult Following, which will be in stores on May 6. Showcasing a heavier, more atmospheric side of the record than hit single “Love as a Weapon,” which PopMatters described as “a bright, shiny jolt of dance-pop heaven,” “Someone Will Notice” is a song catalyzed by the suicide of a small-town Canadian teenage girl and the cruelty of faceless Internet culture. It paints a picture of desolate loneliness, ending in a transcendent escape fantasy. Arranged and performed with Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry on guitar and synths and Jeremy Gara on drums, “Someone Will Notice” reveals the powerfully empathic sensitivity and emotional heft behind this stunning new album.

CLIQUE SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘TOP FIELD’ ON IMPOSE

Hailing from Philadelphia in the U S of A, and comprised of PJ Carroll (Vocals/Guitar), Brandon Shipp (Guitar/Vocals), Tom Anthony (Drums) and Travis Arterburn (Bass), CLIQUE are a melodic indie-rock band who are sure to catch the ear of any fan of the early heart-on-sleeve alternative scene.

Formed from the ashes of various other bands – singer/guitarist PJ played in Girl Scouts and The Hundred Acre Woods, while Travis played drums in Ted Nguyent – influences from these previous punk, math-rock and even indie-folk projects combined into a new project, CLIQUE, over which hangs a much more pressing darkness thanks to gloomy guitar riffs, world-weary vocals and strong, steady basslines.

LISTEN TO TUNES OF DAWN’S NEW SINGLE

Hailing from Berlin, TUNES OF DAWN are streaming their new single “Farewell”.

The unique style of TUNES OF DAWN has been elaborated even more without losing its spontaneity or even its healthy lack of respect when it comes to serving themselves on the rich buffet of different musical elements. With this a new album was created that unites different styles, sometimes just cited shortly, within a dark-rock mood.

Again the four protagonists act in blind understanding. Be it in the perfect tuned movement of rhythm or in sound-constructions erected by guitar and keyboard, where layers of melodies intertwine, forming a greater whole.
